I was so freaking hyped for RAW 25. With the cast of characters they had in those 2 buildings that could have been THE greatest RAW ever! Would have even helped the ratings for a week or 2 anyways.
Haven't watched a full RAW since.
Also sorry but F*** THE clique

Remember when pictures circulated around after the fact showing JR and King had fallen asleep at ringside?

It's the show that nearly killed my interest in professional wrestling.

Terri Runnels has talked about how she and Goldust had pitched that she accompany him to the ring for a match. A nice little callback to their history together, and yet the main focus is still on the person who is on the current roster (at that time). Pretty much a perfect use of a “legend” talent. Vince turned it down multiple times saying that Terri was going to get her own spotlight on the show.
That spotlight was her standing on stage with some other ladies for a minute or two and then...that was it.
The shows are so creatively inept they can’t even do nostalgia correctly.

Didn’t they hustle Miz or someone over there to attempt to keep the crowd from going insane? Yes, they did. Probably the best thing on that show was Miz going over Reigns, they were smart enough to know he was the hotter hand for that particular audience.

All I remember was that fans overpaid to get a limited show at the Manhattan center. The only televised matches they actually got were Bray Wyatt squashing Matt Hardy and a two minute Gallows & Anderson / Revival match. Yeeeeah. Even worse was the "bonus" matches they got. They had Mustafa Ali defeat Lince Dorado and then Hideo Itami & Akira Tozawa faced Drew Gulak & Tony Nese in a double countout. Both matches went about two minutes, and one didn't even have a finish. This was coming off the heels of the 205 Live house show experiment (in which those cards had Bray Wyatt vs. Matt Hardy to add starpower), which really did not help the perception that the Manhattan Center was the lesser show of the two. Especially since Enzo was suspended due to his rape allegation on the very same day.

And to think, this was only the start of a huge creative downward spiral.

I was hoping it would be like RAW 15, especially if they had a 25 man gimmick Battle Royal.
Such a waste.

What I wrote on this board after the episode aired:
My biggest concern out of this is that this is the go home show (on the Raw side of things) before the Rumble. This did nothing to really promote the rumble outside of the commercials for it and Asuka's post-match attack. This "special episode" could have been done last week, closer to the actual anniversary of Raw and really push the Rumble this week. We're a society of instant gratification, expecting the casual crowd to remember a big push nearly three weeks prior isn't "best for business".

WooooowAs an aside, I rag on the company a lot but goddamn did the Men’s Rumble make up for holding 2015’s in the same building by an astounding amount.

My friend and I paid damn good money for floor seats to the Barclays and we both felt like we were slapped in the face. I can’t even imagine how the fans at the Manhattan Center felt. I still have the chair as a reminder, but my friend wisely sold his to someone outside the arena after the show.
Outside of NXT Takeover, I don’t think i’ll ever attend another show live.

That show killed my love for the wwe. I started watching that show with my oldest son and after the first hour, he said "this is boring " and went to play video games. As a lifelong fan, my eyes were truly opened to see that the wwe was all flash and no substance and nothing mattered anymore. I haven't been back since.

I’d say the battle Royal was the most effort WWE put into nostalgia you didn’t usually see on the show. It had Steve Blackman, Gangrel, Flash Funk, Pete Gas and Gilberg. Like, come on.

It was the most drenched in cynicism wrestling program you will ever see and that says a lot considering the business we are dealing with.

I remember being miffed that along with being the 25th Anniversary of Raw, it was also the Go Home show for the 2018 Royal Rumble, so trying to do an anniversary show while hyping one of the biggest pay per views of the year predictably became a huge mess.
