Seeing as I’d heard of the UK entertainer of the same name years before I even heard of the other Chris Evans, I always do a double take when I see the name attached to anything. I mean he was arguably the biggest name in the U.K. in the 90’s at some point so it’s understandable. I’m sure all Brits do it. Surely a collaboration is due if it hasn’t already happened. Given the ginger one's recent allegations led to some harassment for the actor I'd guess that's an opportunity that will never come around.

I'm just imagining this being the equivalent of Logan.

I like how people are crying fowl and done people are saying it’s because of Tim Allen’s politics. If Disney is so butthurt about his politics then why did he still voice Buzz in everything else Toy Story? Why is he being allowed to use Home Improvement characters in Last Man Standing? People make a bigger deal out of things Allen believes that Allen or Disney even do. It’s sad and pathetic and only a reason to insult people at this point.
(Although one good point is when has it ever been said Buzz Lightyear was based on a real person in the Toy Story universe?)

If they can settle the legal conflict with the Knevial family, we could get a Duke Kaboom live action movie from the "70s" (complete with 70s style production techniques).

In their defense, it would kind of explain why his role in Toy Story 4 was WAY smaller than it was in the other movies, which felt weird considering the big arcs he’s had in the other movies. It might not be the reason but it’s either that or Allan having a history of being hard to work with and Pixar going “We’ll get him in this one movie and then his contract is over” or something. And Last Man Standing is made by Disney, one of the production companies that made Home Improvement also makes LMS, so I’m guessing that’s more a “Sure, you can use a toy from our toy box, other toy”.

I kind of didn’t have any problem with his role in Toy Story 4 honestly since it seems like it was kind of the end of Woody’s journey. Also doesn’t mean that Allen might not cameo in the movie which would make the whole uproar seem silly.

So, who is this for?
Most people seem to like Buzz Lightyear either because he's a talking toy or because he's Tim Allen.
This has neither.

I do love how the two things made about the actual Buzz don’t have Tim Allen playing him. It makes sense, toys with voice clips very rarely use the original VA so it fits that Toy Buzz would sound different to his source material. You beat me to it. Movie Buzz is a big name actor while toy Buzz has some inexpensive voice actor.

Didnt Tim play Buzz in the pilot movie of the animated series? Technically, the episodes were animated with Patrick Warburton's voice as the focus for the animation but the VHS release replaced him with Tim Allen.

This looks good and it will still sell gangbusters because of the "Pixar can't do wrong" crowd, but to me it feels like one of those CW darker more serious reboots with a 90s icon with a MUCH higher budget.

I'd be a lot more interested if it had Star Command stuff lol
It looks weirdly...really serious?

I sort of love that, of all performances, Chris Evans is harking back to the Patrick Warburton Buzz of the animated series. That's kind of tremendous.

My main impression watching the trailer is mostly just... Confusion? It kind of feels like some generic space thing they didn't have confidence would sell so they clumsily slapped a Toy Story aesthetic on it despite it not really even slightly connecting to anything.
Movie doesn't even look bad but I kind of see no reason beyond, "Money!" for it to be what it is?
