Someone mentioned in another thread a few weeks ago just what an odd conceit this was, yet how common of a running theme it was in the 80’s. The passing of Tiny “Zeus” Lister brought it back to mind, as that was essentially the idea of him with the evil tv executive. Now anyone who thinks a businessman’s money isn’t good enough for a post apocalyptic warrior is a jock ass. So in tribute to Zeus, let’s look back on this cliche.
Obviously the most famous example would be Paul Ellering with the Road Warriors. Which is all the more ironic as Paul didn’t start off with his Wall St Journal reading shtick, that was really more the final evolution of his managerial character. Yet somehow it worked.

I could say Eddie Gilbert with Hot Stuff Inc. and the Blade Runners, but so far everything was a copy of the Road Warriors and Paul Ellering. Is there any that weren't a direct copy? Power of Pain were, Demolition were, Blade Runners were.
