Shaq’s segment apparently drew over a million viewers, so he’s certainly a draw.

While shaq may be a draw, I really hope he does not end up wrestling.

That's great and all but I'll still be skipping the "match". Not sure how that's supposed to change my mind.

Watching him get immediately blown up running the ropes or throwing a worked punch will get those channels changed immediately. Maybe Vince can send Keith Lee over to AEW & take Shaw to the PC with Dabba Kato & Mace.
Some network somewhere- please launch a reality show for all athletes and celebs who want to cosplay wrestler. Shaq, Pat, Green Arrow & the whole gang can do their hijinks every week.

It would be great if they had Cody do something with him on Inside the NBA.

Yeah this something I'll be skipping. I have no interest seeing Shaq in wrestling.

I said it in another thread, it'd probably really benefit Shaq to be a cornerman for Jade in a tag match of some kind, maybe a big 8 man on a show with her, Nyla, Ivalisse and Diamante vs. Brandi, Swole, Velvet and Deeb and Cody is in their corner. Like, sure, you'd sort of be revolving stuff around Shaq and Cody but at the same time, you leverage his star power onto Jade and her team, give Brandi a chance for revenge and showcase the others to a wider audience. Shaq doesn't wrestle but he can be the hypeman of the group with Vickie and you can also have Cody there to even the odds.
You could do it with smaller teams and such but it's the best way to use Shaq.

He seemed to be making it pretty clear from that interview segment that Shaq didn't have any intentions on actually wrestling, so I think we can stop worrying

Like I get peoples concerns and cynicism, but Shaq appearing doesn't mean Shaq will wrestle, and if he DOES, he's not gonna have a straight up match it's gonna be like multi man chaos

Honestly, with the passing of Zeus, this is an excellent opprotunity to make Shaq that celebrity monster fight, f*** it. We werent having workrate discussions back then, so as a basketball head and cody mark, this can only end in a glorious train wreck worst case scenario.

I still stand by my statement these type of brushes with mainstream media outlets is due to AEW having good pr and not being as difficult to work with as the wwe.

i think shaq's involvement is going to be limited to trying some outside interference/distraction thing on jade's behalf. don;t really see him wrestling at all, at most, maybe a tag match or better a six man tag where his two partners do 99% of the work and he gets to do a couple big man spots.

I don’t expect Shaq is working a one-on-one Cody match. But if that’s what he wants to do, screw it.
If it’s a bad match, no one is going to remember the poor workrate. The payoff is the spectacle of a big name like Shaq being involved with AEW. It’s like with Rodman in WCW, he wasn’t brought in to put on classic matches, he was there to get more heat on the nWo and bring WCW/TNT more attention. Plus, it’ll merely be one blah match on a show that typically has more high-caliber great wrestling.
But he’s probably gonna be a cornerman anyway.

A lot of death announcments, Covid stuff, and what celebrities like Batista, Bellas and Cena are up to. WWE is still one of the biggest companies in the world, with a rich history, and tons of celebrities, but has had some bad PR lately. But have also had a lot of good PR, because Stephanie gets what corporate media wants. The Shaq piece is pretty positive and fun. Makes TNT happy. Everyone wins.

Oh yeah it’s definitely nice to see for AEW. The last celebrity on WWE TV story would be the Gronk stories from earlier this year, no? They did do a couple of positive articles in the past few weeks too on The Undertaker’s final farewell.

But yeah, still some positivity here and there.

I could not give less of a f*** about Shaq as a person, and I audibly groaned when that segment started on Dynamite this week, but honestly... it was a really good segment and I think he actually did a better job in it than Brandi did. Plus he seemed to strongly imply he'd be at ringside for Jade rather than wrestling at all. So it seems like it'll not be hugely intrusive at least.
