On December 17, 1980, we were introduced to a place, slightly a ways north, on the day before, the day before Christmas.
(EDIT: Which is today as I am editing this, the 23rd...)
Yes, I speak of the Evergreen Forest:

Another series that should be on DVD.
Yes, I know there was a Complete Series release, but it was released in Germany, and it is in German only.
I want an American release of the full series.

Then you got the North American version which was just a Best Of collection, pretty much (it starts with season 2, which TBF has everything in place...Lisa Lougheed, Susan Roman as Melissa, backing off more of certain specials tropes and characters -- Dan, Tommy, and Julie, I am looking at YOU). Not only that, but they cut all the cold opens to replace them with a static screen where Len Carlson returns as Bert to make comments/dumb jokes. Which he also does during the beginning of each set of end credits. And of course the specials are in all sorts of legal red tape, probably due to the musical guests in each one. Trivia: Jon Stroll (who was one who did the music for the show) liked Luba, the season one singer, more than Lougheed.

Fact: all the Raccoons specials can be used for the holidays somehow.
The Christmas Raccoons, obviously. On Ice is set in the winter. Lost Star premiered here in December, so I can associate it with the holidays. Let's Dance = a mix of all of the above.

I mean, if they gave us the first two seasons on DVD for North America, I'd be okay with that. My favorite episode, The Evergreen Grand Prix, is like the 4th episode of the season. Season 1 did have a number of jams that seemed to disappear after the first season. Also, I'd be down for a full release of Steve Lunt's version of Run with Us.

Someone needs to enter the Lunt RWU into Lost Media Wiki. I think Stroll told someone I know that he couldn't locate it.
The Evergreen Grand Prix of course brings to mind....RACCOONS UNABRIDGED :-)

So, my Raccoons story...
Well, Lost Star was the first Raccoons special I saw, back when WNBC aired it (two-part version of course). In the years to follow, the things I remembered the most from it were: 1) the puppy named Broo and 2) the guy (Cedric) who was friends with the good guys and the bad guys. I did not see Christmas nor On Ice AT ALL until....well, that's still to come....
Somehow the series went under my radar when it was first run and appeared on The Disney Channel. I am not entirely sure how I stumbled about the franchise again. I think I happened to see part of an episode on TDC, yet what it was didn't totally register with me. If anything I was more interested in the end theme, as we ALL are, I'm sure. It was either that, and/or reading a description of the series in the DC Magazine.
Whatever the reason, it was late 1991 or so when I made an effort to start capturing the show on VHS. However, the first time I did so happened to be when they reran Lost Star, which was when it all came back to me. Oh yeah, the other thing that stuck from the original broadcast was the whole chocolates scene, LOL. (I was obsessed with them calling them "chocolates" and not "candy" or whatever).
I think the first full episode I saw was The Chips Are Down! As I said, I set my VCR before going to school every day...by then, the show aired 11:30 afternoons on weekdays. It was, I believe Feb 1992 or so when I recaptured Lost Star, both parts. Somehow, I taped over the first time I recorded it. I think by then, and this was the last year or so that The Raccoons would be seen on TDC, LS was the only special they reran. Though I know someone who remembers seeing Let's Dance around this time too.
Of course, for awhile I thought LS was the first in the franchise. When one of our video stores went out of business I discovered the real first two specials as they were selling off the two-fer VHS.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Personal Raccoons milestones: my emails with Kevin Gillis this year, and an autograph from Susan Roman

This is the day the movie takes place, that is right, The Raccoons was the first to do a Festivus special.

So just watched a little bit of that. Cedric Sneer's a fan of the NY Islanders. Huh. Go figure. Thought he'd be a Winnipeg Jets fan.

This thread is incomplete without the run with us end theme You're welcome. The one you probably remember: (though I agree the Lunt version needs to be found in the clear) BONUS: here's the Abridged version of TCR:

Well Ralph and Melissa are within reason to give Burt a Festivus grievance of being a moch.

The Abridged series actually brings that up in Episode 4, Evergreen Nights: The Ballad of Bert Raccoon. Bert Raccoon Inner Monologue: Alright, Cyril, you're going down. If we win, I'm gonna head out to the local dumpster and feast like a KING!!
Wait, do we eat from dumpsters? I mean, I know we're wild animals, and stereotypically, raccoons do eat from garbage.
But we're talking animals who wear clothes. So we don't really do many animal-like things.
Then again, we don't wear much clothes. Ralph goes around in just a scarf, and I only know like two or three people who wear pants!!Also, I found this on YouTube: The Raccoons YouTube channel.
