I have tremendous sympathy for the USPS for being overloaded this year due to circumstances way out of their control.
I have sympathy for UPS for getting the runoff from the USPS being overwhelmed.
f*** FedEx.
I know i'm not alone in this for December 2020, so let's all vent.
I have THREE packages this week that are said to have been delivered, but they weren't. I live in a building with a door person and a secure package room, so there's no record of the three packages (all on different days) ever arriving here.
So, I tweet @fedexhelp and they ask me to DM them. I do, but then instead of responding in DMs, they respond ON THEIR PUBLIC ACCOUNT sharing MY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ALL OF THEIR FOLLOWERS.
Just the absolute worst.

I've just had a similar experience with Hermes, the U.K.'s least-reliable shipping company. It was "delivered" to a random street corner 1.5 miles from where it was supposed to be.

Gad-f***ing-zooks! What the hell? I'm still waiting for a further response, but they're pretty adamant that a box of craft beers is going to be perfectly safe and untouched on a street corner for five days.

Ehhhhh usps sucks! I had 1 item ship on 11/30 and another on 12/1. Last update on them was 12/9 and now nothing. I’m on the west coast and they’re coming from the Midwest. I get it they’re super swamped right now, but 20 days?
It’s funny I’ll hear on the news that the cut off for mailing things on time was like the 13th, had to laugh at that.

Since I can't get to my Dad's house for Christmas, I sent him a gourmet cheese box as a gift. The company I ordered it from sent it via FedEx. They dropped it off at a FedEx facility in Long Island City. It was going to Staten Island. That's about a one hour drive with normal traffic (20 minutes if by some miracle there is no traffic in NYC). For some reason at some point FedEx decided to put it on a plane to Memphis. Even weirder is, based on the time codes on their website, they did this right in the middle of the big snow storm the other night. It only arrived at my Dad's a day late, but I still can't imagine why they sent it to Memphis in the first place.

That's not really just on USPS though. They've been deliberately meddled with last autumn to disrupt mail-in voting, which has resulted in such a catastrophic holiday season.

My wife ordered a package from Fullerton, CA a week ago. (20 miles from my house). USPS scanned it in at Fullerton and then Anaheim and then Los Angeles and then Grand Rapids, Michigan...... ... ... ...wait....WHAT???
That’s a two thousand mile detour.

Never had much of a problem with FedEx or UPS.
USPS on the other hand - I'd say about 50% of stuff I've sent in the past five years has gotten sent to the wrong post office or totally lost. I just don't use them anymore. Their incompetence is laughable.

FedEx has been pretty good here. It's UPS that sucks goat balls. I actually had to sign up for a (fortunately free) service and specify exactly where I want packages to be dropped off so they'd stop leaving them at the end of my driveway. Almost lost 50 pounds of budgie seed to their stupidity.
I've bitched out their customer service more than once. Had to negotiate a hostage situation one year when a seasonal driver flaked on going down my driveway and took my packages back with him. Even had one driver basically say he was going to break into my house. Like WTF.
USPS is weird at times. When they bring down packages, they don't bring the rest of the mail. One would think that would be common sense.

Fedex is what would happen if Dixie Carter ran a shipping company.

Lets see since FEb this year
Had a package coming from Michigan sit in Memphis TN for 21 days before they shipped it to me.
Had another that was sent 3 day priority take 18 to get from East TN to central MS. But around the same time had a package sent 3 day priority get from the West side of MS to the east side in a day?!?!?
And the newest and this is UPS. Ordered a dvd for a friend back on Dec 1st or so. Paid extra for rush shipping. Took them 3 days to bother to ship it. Went from Seattle to Arizona, then to DFW TX. Then to Jackson MS. Ok cool I will be here the next day...Wait a 14 days and go check the tracking. Nope it left jackson MS the day it got there and headed to Morrow GA.WTF I live at most 1 hour 15 minutes from Jackson. Checked on friday and it is back in Jackson MS...
Oddly Fedex ships meds for two people at my home and we have never had any issues with them.

A while ago I was due to have a parcel delivered by Hermes by a specific day. When that day came and went I went on the parcel tracker to see where it was, and found out it had been delivered, just not to me. The courier had signed for it themselves as “behind bin”, and then left it behind the bin at the right number house, but on the wrong street. And don’t get me started on Yodel.

Earlier this year I too had trouble with the company formally known as Federal Express, in which I got a text stating a package I was expecting was said to have been delivered to my apartment (almost a whole week ahead of schedule) but when I got home it was nowhere to be found.
The package in question was a reclining chair so yeah kind of hard to miss that one, the next day I talked to my rental office and they stated that no large furniture deliveries were confirmed the previous day.
I then rang up FedEx's customer service line and got the usual run around from them, getting nowhere I rang up the online store I ordered the chair from and they were a lot more accommodating offering to send me a replacement and even refunding me a little bit off the price of the chair. Of course that chair some how got lost on the way to my place (I think it got held up in customs or something.) So I just said nah because I don't want to go through with this a third time and was able to get a full refund for the chair.
The moral of the story: when it comes to large furniture purchases it pays to buy local.

I'm an ebay seller and primarily use the post office. In almost 12 years I've had very few issues. The only times I went elsewhere, due to how large the items were it was an awful experience. UPS damaged an item and would very tough to deal with for insurance claims. When they did give it, it was only a portion so I had to fight that too. Fedex was THE worst. I had an item damage pretty badly, I paid for additional insurance and they claimed what I bought was not actual insurance. I had to call them multiple times, send multiple emails and every employee assured me that one more call or email and I would have my insurance money. But NO, they denied me. I refuse to use either UPS or Fedex ever. When someone wants a large item I sell, that I only will sell locally, and they ask if I will consider UPS or Fedex I will gladly tell them my horror stories. I get they kind of have us by the balls because we still need them but I will always use the post office. I get there are major issues now but consider the circumstances, it's understandable.
