Johnny Depp always came off as incredibly awkward in interviews, or at least doing publicity like talk shows--he's a bit better when he's talking more in-depth about acting. I've only ever seen 4 movies with him in it. One was Charlie and it was horrendous compared to the Gene Wilder version. One was 21 Jump Street the movie and he's only in it *maybe* 5 minutes and his scene is pretty funny given the circumstances but doesn't particularly impress me. Anyone could have been put in the role. Another is Ed Wood which I rented for George Steele, I don't remember whatever he did in it and think I stopped watching after George's scene. Lastly some movie he was in I rented when I worked for the library. He played an author in some remote off the grid log cabin IIRC and I think it probably would have been a better movie given a better actor. I just don't get Johnny Depp. I feel like he's someone who had a few hits and that makes him very popular but everything I've seen him in has either not been good and not been very memorable. I'm not an "old man yells at cloud" guy, I'm probably same age or younger as most posters but I think once the 90s hit what the definition of a "good" actor is changed for the worse. Edit: I had to look up where he was born, it was in Kentucky. I wanted to ask "is he supposed to be British?" because he sure has a British accent in the 21 Jump Street movie. I never saw the series so not sure if that's how he talked but to me this just comes off as more awful acting by him.

Any number of modern day mumbled dialogue actors.

I don't think I've ever seen Harrison Ford give an interview where he doesn't seem either bored to tears and/or wishing he was anywhere else. I think people don't seem to realize that Harrison has been this way for some time as part of his 'bit'. People think he's a grumpy guy, so he gives them what they want. If you want to see him in his element with deadpan but with a few glimpses of corpsing, check out his interviews on Graham Norton. The episode where he's with Jack Whitehall and Benedict Cumberbatch you can tell he's having a blast! I'd say that's more on Graham Norton and how comfortable he makes all the guests feel so they loosen up.

As for the thread topic, Robert DeNiro is a very dull interview. It's not really a wonder he does a lot of method acting, because he comes across like a total cipher, like he filed off his personality years ago in order to be a blank slate.

I recall him seeming like he was having fun on Conan before, too I can't decide whether I like his interactions on Conan or Kimmel more. Hell, THIS should put an end to Ford being a dull interview:

I used to have to edit porn star interviews for a Sirius XM show. It was like the host was talking to a couch. "So, you enjoy having sex?" Yeah. "What got you into porn?" *Giggles* "Do you have any favorite scenes?" Yeah. That's unfortunate because I think there's really some potential for a fascinating show there. If the interviewer isn't going to press those points, they need to hire someone else.

Bob Dylan - chanced across a live performance at a festival 20 yrs ago and as much as I'm a fan of his studio work (who isn't?) if you can understand one word in five of what he says live you're doing better than me, his voice has apparently declined with age since.
Ricky Gervais - despite that he annoys many he has a lot of talent, probably one of the greatest comic screenwriters with far more hits than misses, it just doesn't translate to his standup which is unfunny because of his reedy voice. Standups need either a quirky speaking style (Jimmy Carr) or a booming voice that dominates the room (Chappelle). Gervais has never learnt either, his Golden Globe stuff is good because it's short and written and rehearsed weeks in advance but even in interviews he sounds like he just got out of bed.
A lot of wrestlers who's voices don't match the body and their promos seem off due to it, Lashley most notably although Brock was very lucky to have Heyman from day one.

Hell, THIS should put an end to Ford being a dull interview: Hell, even the understated time where he was offered $100 for the inside scoop on Episode 7, pocketed the money, and deadpanned, “I hear they’re thinking of making another movie” was damned funny in its own right.

He's usually alright, but Liam Neeson gave a hilariously awkward interview a couple of years ago.

The youngest of the Hanson brothers (Mmmmm Bop, not hockey) was brutally awkward and terrible in any interviews I ever saw him in, even when he was older.
And George St. Pierre. I remember one where he was in the process of cutting weight for a fight (so he wasn’t entirely himself, worse than his usual “horrible”) but even the interviewers just cut it.

There's a whole list of sportspeople who are terrible interviews. On a similar note, Nigel Mansell was known for being one of the most exciting drivers in Formula One. Put a microphone in front of him however... [/div]
[/quote] Nigel Mansell was my childhood hero, but I’d dread the post race interviews as I knew he’d more or less be charisma free.

UFC fighter Mark Hall was awkward in interviews. His eyes wound bulge out and there was a nervous pitch in his voice.
