Did Jose ever get written off TV? I'm pretty sure he was at Royal Rumble 97. Was he ever seen again after Shawn lost his smile? Was he ever even mentioned again? Yes, it was said beforehand that the Rumble would be the last time Jose would be in Shawn's corner. The reason given was Jose felt guilt about his role in what happened to Shawn at Survivor Series. Ahh okay thank you.

I now want to see Jose in a similar role as Papi from Highly Questionable on ESPN. Just a doddering old fool who tries to hang with the cool kids. DX tries to keep Jose clothed...

So Jose as Ralphus, basically? Sounds good to me.

I just want to mention that in my 15 years on this forum, the "Sweatsock Lothario" thread is still my favorite thing that has ever happened here.

Ol’ Sweatsock was gonna be out of place already no matter what. But the DX branded sweatsocks would have flown off the shelves.

Its a good thing they didn't bring him in, Jose would have been a bad influence on the rest of that group

Another idea: Jose as a midlife crisis guy saying outdated slang to be 'hip' and 'cool' but listens to even more outdated music:
To the annoyance to everyone in DX and X-Pac has to deal with him every time.

This board cares more about Jose Lothario then his own family does.

I remember one of his last appearances was on Heat in 1999. It was during the Corporation angle and they beat up Shawn Michaels (being that it was outside the arena, I now wonder if this was a callback to the real-life beating he took more than three years prior). Vince called José Lothario into the ring and Jose said something like "No way, José," causing other Corporation members to jump him.

When I was reading Harvey Wippleman's wikipedia after the Rock video, I was surprised to see he was with DX for one Raw appearance where he was used to make fun of Rick Rude. I can see DX bringing in Jose but maybe one appearance and again where they make fun of him. Yes I remember that. It was the Monday after Rude did the Raw/Nitro double appearance. Wippleman came out basically as Rude to introduce DX, but once they came to the ring HBK basically shoved him to the ground and said something like 'Yea that was so hard to replace' basically meaning Rude. After getting shoved to the ground Wippleman went to the back, so that was basically it

Ol’ Sweatsock was gonna be out of place already no matter what. TBF, Rude was kinda out of place for DX as well. He was a straight man in the group with a business suit. He didn't do any of the antics and when he left, the group actually took a step forward. If anybody read Rewriting The Book's "What if Bret Hart Was Banned From Wrestling in The US," Rude plays the role as a corporate peacekeeper which would've been much more fitting for him during that time.

The sheer thought of Jose Lothario giving out crotch chops has me done.

Watching WWE in 2000 and I think he could have easily fit into the McMahon Helmsley Faction. Could have been him giving Rikishi a stinkface instead of Patterson.

That would’ve been the biggest disappointment ever. not as much as the higher power reveal and Jose being there while would've been dumb, at least it could potentially make sense unlike Vince being the higher power
