2016: Only Rumble PPV where all the main card matches were title matches. The 5 matches on the 2016 Rumble’s main card all had a title on the line, including the Rumble match, a 1st for the Rumble PPV. The Intercontinental, Tag Team, United States, Divas, and WWE Titles were all defended at the event. The preshow match, a Fatal Fourway among Jack Swagger & Mark Henry, The Ascension, Damien Sandow & Darren Young, and The Dudley Boyz, was the only non-title match; but it did have 2 spots in the Rumble match on the line. So every match at the 2016 Rumble PPV had something on the line.
1st Rumble PPV to air against the NFL Playoffs since 2003. Strangely, there was a bye week that year between the NFC and AFC Championship Games and the Super Bowl on January 31. But, instead, the 2016 Rumble PPV was aired on January 24, against the NFC Championship Game.
Most Rumble PPVs without competing in a Rumble match: D-Von Dudley. Ironically, the Fatal Fourway Tag Match for 2 Rumble spots would be D-Von’s 6th match at a Rumble PPV without appearing in the Rumble match.
1st Rumble PPV to feature an Intercontinental Title match since 2002: Dean Ambrose VS Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing Match. From 2003 to 2015, there were no Intercontinental Title matches at a Rumble PPV. In 2003, the title was deactivated at the time. In 2008, Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy faced Randy Orton for his WWE Title. Every other time, the champion was competing in the Rumble match.
1st Rumble PPV to feature a United States Title match on the PPV main card since 2010: Alberto Del Rio VS Kalisto. After the 1st United States Title match at a Rumble PPV in 2010, there wouldn’t be another on the main PPV broadcast until 2016. In between, there was a U.S. Title match (Antonio Cesaro VS The Miz) on the preshow in 2013. Also, the 1st United States Title change at a Rumble PPV; Kalisto won the title from Del Rio.
1st women’s match to go over 10 minutes since 1988: Charlotte Flair VS Becky Lynch for the WWE Divas Title, 11:40.
Only Rumble match for Neville.
2nd Rumble match for the WWE Title. For the 1st time since 1992, the Rumble match would be for the WWE Title. Also, the 1st time the WWE Champion defended his title in the Rumble match. Unlike 1992, which was to fill the vacant WWE Title, the 2016 Rumble match saw then-WWE Champion Roman Reigns defend his title in the match. It marked the 1st time since 1990 that the WWE Champion competed in the Rumble match.
Most Rumble matches: Glenn Jacobs, 19. With 1 Rumble match as Isaac Yankem, D.D.S., 1 as “Fake” Diesel, and 17 as Kane, Jacobs has been in more Rumble matches than anyone. The next closest to him on the list are The Big Show and Shawn Michaels, who have each wrestled in 12, followed by The Undertaker and Goldust with 11 apiece. The only other wrestlers to have reached double-digits are Rikishi, Mark Henry, The Miz, and Chris Jericho, each with 10 appearances. Also, most Rumble matches without winning one, as he never won any of the 19 Rumble matches he competed in.
3rd Iron Man to spend most of his time out of the match: Roman Reigns. Despite posting a time of 59:48, Reigns wasn’t in the 2016 Rumble match for a good while, joining Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon in being Rumble Iron Men who sat out for much of their time. Reigns was pulled from the ring by the League of Nations after little more than 20 minutes into the match and put through a table by Rusev. He was helped away by medics, allowing him to sit out 30:24 of his time, prior to his Herculean comeback when Sheamus entered at Number 29. So, Reigns’s real time in the match was 29:24. The true Iron Man of the match was Chris Jericho, at 51:20.
8th man to reach 4 Final Fours: Sheamus; 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016.
2nd Oldest Rumble winner: Triple H, 46. Also, Triple H’s 1st World Title win since 2009 and his 1st singles title reign past the age of 40.
1st Man to reach over 4 hours in all his Rumble matches: Triple H, 4:00:02.
6th man to reach 5 Final Fours: Triple H; 2002, 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2016.
Longest Gap between Rumble Wins: Triple H, 14 years. He last won the Rumble in 2002.

2017: 2nd Rumble PPV to take place in a stadium. Funny enough, it was back in the 1st stadium to hold a Rumble PPV, the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. Also, the 3rd Rumble PPV to take place in San Antonio, all 3 of which happened 10 years apart (1997, 2007, 2017). And, they were the 10th, 20th, and 30th annual Rumble PPVs.
1st Rumble PPV since 1995 to not feature Glenn Jacobs. The man known as Kane had been at every Rumble PPV since his 1st in 1996 as Isaac Yankem, D.D.S. He competed in the Rumble match in all but 2 PPVs (1998, where as Kane, he interfered in the Undertaker’s WWE Title match with Shawn Michaels; and 2012, where he wrestled John Cena). This was the 1st Rumble PPV since 1995 that didn’t have Glenn Jacobs on the card.
1st Universal Title match at Rumble PPV: Kevin Owens VS Roman Reigns in a No Disqualification Match with Chris Jericho suspended above the ring in a shark cage.
“Most” World Title wins: John Cena, 16. He’s “tied” with Ric Flair, officially. However, Flair is said to actually have at most 23 World Title reigns.
Only Rumble match for “Gentleman” Jack Gallagher, Mojo Rawley, James Ellsworth, and Enzo Amore.
Only match at a Rumble PPV for Rich Swann.
Longest cumulative time spent in Rumble matches: Chris Jericho, 4:59:18. Thanks to spending an hour in the 2017 Rumble match, Jericho became the 2nd man to go over 4 hours in his Rumble career. In fact, he was 42 seconds shy of being the 1st man to reach 5 hours in Rumble matches. Also, Jericho is the 6th man to last over an hour in a Rumble match, at 1:00:13 for the 2017 Rumble. In fact, he ended up topping Ric Flair’s 1992 mark for 5th place in Longest time in a single Rumble match; 6th place if you include the Greatest Royal Rumble. And, he was the 3rd man to reach an hour in a Rumble match without winning.
Longest time in a Rumble match without scoring a single elimination: Sami Zayn, 47:12. Yes, Sami spent over 45 minutes in a Rumble match and didn’t eliminate anyone.
Only Man to draw Number 30 one year after drawing Number 1: Roman Reigns. It’s happened in reverse 3 times: Ted DiBiase went from 30 to 1 from 1989 to 1990, as did Rikishi for 2001 and 2002 and The Undertaker for 2007 and 2008. Roman is the only guy to do the opposite.
Only Man to reach 4 consecutive Final Fours: Roman Reigns: 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Also, 9th Man to reach 4 Final Fours.
2nd of just 2 Rumble winners to win with just 1 elimination: Randy Orton. The Viper won just by eliminating Roman Reigns.
2nd Man to reach 6 Final Fours: Randy Orton; 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2017.

2018: 1st SmackDown! Tag Team Title Match at a Rumble PPV: The Usos VS Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable in a 2-Out-Of-3 Falls Match.
Only Man to reach 5 consecutive Final Fours: Roman Reigns: 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Also, Reigns is the 1st man to have been the Runner-Up 3 times, for the 2014, 2017, and 2018 Rumble matches.
6th and 7th Men to reach 5 Finals Fours: Roman Reigns (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018) and John Cena (2005, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2018).
8th Rumble Runner-Up to also wrestle in a World Title match at WrestleMania: Roman Reigns. For the 1st time since 2012, the Rumble Runner-Up also wrestled in a World Title match at WrestleMania, as Reigns won an Elimination Chamber match to challenge Brock Lesnar for his Universal Title.
2nd of 2 Rumble winners who have not won a World Title in WWE: Shinsuke Nakamura. Even though not every Rumble winner has won their World Title match at WrestleMania, they have all held a World Title in WWE except for Luger and Shinsuke Nakamura. Though, Luger is a former WCW Champion, and Nakamura has held the IWGP World Heavyweight Title. So, every Rumble winner since 1990 has been a World Champion at some point in their career. However, he could make Lex Luger the only one to have pulled off this dubious feat as Nakamura is still employed with WWE and could win one of their world titles.
1st Men to pull double duty at a Rumble PPV where they competed in the Rumble match first: Seth Rollins, Cesaro, and Sheamus. After competing in the 2018 Men’s Rumble match, all 3 men faced off against each other in a tag team match for Seth Rollins and Jason Jordan’s RAW Tag Team Titles.
2nd non-Rumble match for Glenn Jacobs at a Rumble PPV: Brock Lesnar VS Kane VS Braun Strowman for the Universal Title. For just the 2nd time in his career, Kane competed at a Rumble PPV but not in the Rumble match. The only other non-Rumble match he wrestled in was against John Cena at the 2012 Rumble PPV.
1st Women’s Rumble match. For the 2018 Rumble PPV, WWE had 2 Rumble matches: one for the men and one for the women. It was the 1st Rumble PPV with 2 Rumble matches, and with WWE holding the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27 later in the year, the 1st time WWE had 3 Rumble matches on PPV in one year.
Most Debuts in a Rumble match: the 2018 Women’s Rumble match. Since Beth Phoenix was the only competitor to have competed in a Rumble match, the 29 other women were making their Rumble debut, the most for a Rumble match.
1st Women’s Rumble Iron Woman: Sasha Banks, 54:46. If you count her time with the Men’s Rumble, Sasha has the 12th longest time in a Rumble match, replacing Rick Martel’s time in the 1991 Rumble match.
1st woman to have competed in the Men’s and Women’s Rumble match: Beth Phoenix. She was the only woman who wasn’t making her Rumble debut that night, having already competed in the 2010 Rumble match.
Only Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase holder to compete in a Rumble match while still holding the briefcase: Carmella. She became the 2nd MITB winner to compete in a Rumble match while still holding the briefcase.
1st Big 4 PPV to end with a women’s match. The Women’s Rumble match went on last, the 1st time any of the Big 4 PPVs ended with a women’s match.
2nd Longest women’s match in WWE history: the 2018 Women’s Rumble match, 58:57. Also, the 2nd longest women’s match at a Rumble PPV.
Only Rumble PPV where Japanese wrestlers won both Rumble matches: Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka. Also, both were SmackDown! wrestlers, both challenged the SmackDown! champions (WWE Champion AJ Styles for Nakamura and SmackDown! Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair for Asuka) at WrestleMania 34, and both lost their matches.

Bonus: Greatest Royal Rumble: 1st WWE PPV held on a Friday. Until 2018, Friday was the only day of the week to not have a WWE PPV. By the end of the year, it would have 2; along with the Greatest Royal Rumble, Crown Jewel was also held on a Friday. Sunday has had the most PPVs; all but 24 PPVs have been held on that day. Monday has 8: WrestleMania 2 and the 1st 7 SummerSlams. Tuesday has 3: This Tuesday In Texas in 1991 and the 2 Taboo Tuesdays in 2004 and 2005. Wednesday and Thursday both have 4: the 1st 4 Survivor Series were on Thursday, and the next 4 were on Wednesday. And, Saturday has 3: Royal Rumble 1991 and 1994 as well as Super Show-Down.
1st WWE PPV held overseas since SummerSlam 1992. Greatest Royal Rumble took place in the King Abdullah Sports City's King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the 1st time a WWE PPV was held in a foreign that wasn’t Canada since the 1992 SummerSlam held in London, England.
Only 50-Man Rumble match.
1st Rumble match held on PPV outside of the main Rumble PPV event. Despite having the name “Greatest Royal Rumble,” it didn’t take place in January. So, it doesn’t really count with the main Rumble PPV. Also, 1st time a Rumble match was held on PPV outside of January; the PPV took place on April 27.
Longest Rumble match: At 1:17:20, it’s the longest Rumble match to be held on PPV.
Longest time in a PPV Rumble match: Daniel Bryan, 1:16:05.
Most Eliminations in a PPV Rumble match: Braun Strowman, 13.

2019: 3rd Rumble PPV held in a stadium. Chase Field is the 1st baseball stadium to hold a Rumble PPV, and the 2nd baseball stadium to hold any WWE PPV, after Safeco Field in Seattle, WA for WrestleMania XIX.
1st Rumble PPV to have 2 women’s title matches. Both the RAW and SmackDown! Women’s Titles were defended at the 2019 Rumble PPV. Asuka successfully beat Becky Lynch to retain her SmackDown! Women’s Title; and Ronda Rousey also retained her RAW Women’s Title against Sasha Banks.
1st SmackDown! Women’s Title match at a Rumble PPV: Asuka VS Becky Lynch.
New Iron Woman record: Natalya, 56:01.
3rd Rumble winner to pull double duty: Becky Lynch. The 1st female Rumble winner to pull double duty lost to Asuka in a match for the SmackDown Women’s Title before getting into the 2019 Women’s Rumble match convincing officials to let her in after Lana was unable to compete in the match because of her injured ankle and an attack by Nia Jax. She’s also the 1st Rumble winner to take the spot of another competitor.
1st women’s match to go over 1 hour: the 2019 Women’s Rumble, 1:12:00. It’s now the longest women’s match in WWE history and the longest women’s match at a Rumble PPV.
Longest Rumble match with 30 competitors: the 2019 Women’s Rumble. It lasted about 3 minutes longer than the 2002 Men’s Rumble match (1:09:22) and the 40-man Rumble match in 2011 (1:09:49).
4th Longest match in WWE history: the 2019 Women’s Rumble match. It comes below the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018 (1:17:20), a WWE Title match between Bruno Sammartino and Waldo Von Erich on August 22, 1964 (1:21:00), and the Gauntlet Match from RAW on February 19, 2018 (2:26:55).
1st married couple to compete in Rumble matches in the same night: Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae.
Jeff Jarrett’s 1st WWE PPV match since 1999. After losing the Intercontinental Title to Chyna at No Mercy 1999, Jarrett wouldn’t have another WWE match until his appearance in the 2019 Men’s Rumble match nearly 20 years later, largely due to him holding the title hostage for a hefty payday before leaving for WCW. It was also Jarrett’s 1st appearance at the Double J character since 1996.
1st Woman to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Rumble match in the same night: Nia Jax. Nia competed in the Women’s Rumble, lasting 11:59 from Number 29 before being eliminated by Becky Lynch. Later on, when R-Truth came out as Number 30 for the Men’s Rumble, Nia attacked him and took his spot, making her the 4th woman to compete in the Men’s Rumble match and the 2nd to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Rumble match after Beth Phoenix. She also became the 4th woman in a Men’s Rumble match to eliminate a man, throwing out Mustafa Ali.

2020: 1st Rumble PPV since 2011 with no tag team matches on the card. This includes the pre-show. Outside of the 2 Rumble Matches, there were 4 title matches (Andrade VS Humberto Carrillo for the United States Title, Bayley VS Lacey Evans for the SmackDown! Women’s Title, Becky Lynch VS Asuka for the RAW Women’s Title, and Bray Wyatt Vs Daniel Bryan in a Strap Match for the Universal Title), a Falls Count Anywhere Match (Roman Reigns VS King Corbin), and a regular singles match (Sheamus VS Shorty G).
1st Man to compete in the Women’s Rumble Match: Anthony Carelli. Carelli is better known as Santino Marella, but he also played Santina, Santino’s sister. Santina competed in the 2020 Rumble, eliminating herself. He had previously been in the 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013 Rumbles as Santino. He’s also the 3rd person to compete in the Men’s and Women’s Rumble, after Beth Phoenix and Nia Jax.
Most Eliminations in the Women’s Rumble: Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler, 8 eliminations. Both ladies scored 16 eliminations between the both of them, over half the field. Funny enough, 2 guys in the Men’s Rumble also eliminated over half the field; Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre got 19 guys. Brock had 13, and McIntyre had 6. Speaking of which...
Most Consecutive Eliminations in a Rumble Match: Brock Lesnar, 13 eliminations. Lesnar shattered Hulk Hogan’s record of 8, which had stood since 1989. Lesnar was Number 1 and scored the 1st 13 eliminations in the match. He was the 14th elimination, taken out by winner Drew McIntyre. Lesnar also holds the record for Most Eliminations in a Rumble Match for the main PPV, but he’s tied for overall Rumbles as Braun Strowman also had 13 at the Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018.
1st Rumble Match with the WWE Champion in the match who WASN’T defending the WWE Title since 1990. It had been 20 years since a WWE Champion was just a competitor in the Rumble match not putting his title on the line in the match. In between these 2 matches, the only other time the WWE Champion was in the Rumble Match was in 2016, when Roman Reigns was forced to defend his WWE Title in the match.
AJ Styles’s 1st Royal Rumble Match NOT for the WWE Title: Styles was in the Men’s Rumble for the 1st time since his 2016 debut. Yet, his previous 4 matches at the PPV were all WWE Title matches. His 2016 debut was in the Rumble Match for the WWE Title. In 2017 and 2018, he defended his WWE Title at both PPVs, losing to John Cena in ‘17 and successfully defending it against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in ‘18. In 2019, he took on Daniel Bryan for the title in a losing effort.
Edge’s 1st WWE match since 2011: Edge competed in the Men’s Rumble, his 1st match back since his World Heavyweight Title match with Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania XXVII 9 years earlier. Edge also became the 3rd Man to compete in a Rumble match in 4 different decades. He debuted in 1999; was in the 2000, 2003, 2005, and 2007 Rumbles; won the 2010 Rumble; and returned in 2020.
1st Hall Of Fame married couple to compete in Rumble matches in the same night: Edge and Beth Phoenix. They are the 2nd married couple to pull off this feat; Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae did it in 2019. Though, Edge and Phoenix are the 1st who were Hall Of Famers. Funny enough, this is the 2nd time both were in a Rumble Match in the same night. Both competed in the 2010 Rumble 10 years earlier.
3rd Man to reach 6 Final Fours: Roman Reigns; 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020.
Most times as Rumble Runner-Up: Roman Reigns; 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2020.

2021: 1st Rumble PPV after the death of Pat Patterson. Patterson, who created the Rumble match, died on December 2, 2020, over a month before the PPV.
3rd straight Rumble PPV held in a baseball stadium; Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL is the 3rd baseball stadium to hold a Rumble PPV.
1st Women’s Tag Team Title match at a Rumble PPV since 1988: Charlotte Flair & Asuka VS Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler. The last time a Women’s Tag Team title was held at a Royal Rumble PPV was back in the debut in 1988. Also, that Rumble was on free TV, and this match was held on the free preshow. So, both matches took place on free shows. Though, the Women’s Tag Team Titles defended at this PPV are considered a different title from the ones defended at the 1988 show. Also, both matches saw the titles change hands. The Jumping Bomb Angels beat The Glamour Girls for the titles in 1988, and Jax & Baszler beat Asuka & Flair in 2021.
1st one-on-one WWE Title match to open a Rumble PPV: Drew McIntyre VS Goldberg. The 1st time a WWE Title opened a main Rumble PPV was in 2018, but that was a handicap match with AJ Styles defending the title against Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. So, this was the 1st time the title opened the main show in a single match.
Jillian Hall’s 1st WWE match since 2010. It had been 11 years since Hall had last wrestled for WWE. She went off TV in October of that year and was released in November.
Victoria’s 1st WWE match since WrestleMania 25. The Miss WrestleMania Battle Royal was the last match Victoria took part in in WWE until her return at the 2021 Rumble. She had actually left WWE in January of 2009 and came back for the one-off at WrestleMania. Victoria joined TNA a month after WrestleMania 25, competing as Tara. This was her first WWE match in 12 years.
1st person to win a title during a Rumble match: Alicia Fox won the 24/7 Title during the Women’s Rumble match when R-Truth ran in during the match. Fox pinned him during the match and won the title. However, after she was eliminated, Truth won the title back. So, Fox is the only person to have a complete title reign during a Rumble match.
Smallest Field in a Women’s Rumble match after Number 30 entered the match: 5. There were only 5 women left in the match after Natalya entered the match at 30. This tied with the 1990 Rumble for the 2nd Smallest Field; both had 5.
2nd Rumble where the Final 3 came from the 1st half of the match: The last 3 women in the 2021 Women’s Rumble were Bianca Belair (3), Rhea Ripley (14), and Charlotte Flair (15). The last Rumble to have the last 3 come from the 1st half of the match was in 2009, which had the whole Final 4 (Triple H at 7, Randy Orton at 8, Ted DiBiase, Jr. at 10, and Cody Rhodes at 15) come from the 1st half.
Longest Cumulative Time spent in Women’s Rumble matches: Charlotte Flair, 1:50:05.
Most Cumulative Eliminations in Women’s Rumble matches: Shayna Baszler, 14.
New Iron Woman record: Bianca Belair, 56:52. If you add that to Iron Man records in the Men’s Rumbles, she’s at 12th place over Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon in 1999 (56:38), and both of them spent most of their time out of the match. She’s also the 1st Woman to win a Rumble from a Single Digit Number.
1st Men's Rumble since 2009 with No One pulling Double Duty. None of the 30 men in the Men's Rumble competed on the undercard, a 1st in 11 years. However, 3 women in the Women's Rumble (Charlotte Flair, Shayna Baszler, and Nia Jax) competed on the pre-show. So, 2009 is still the last Rumble PPV with no one pulling double duty whatsoever.
Most Consecutive Rumble matches: Dolph Ziggler, 13. Ziggler tied Kane’s record of 13 straight Rumble matches. Though, if you count the Greatest Royal Rumble, Ziggler has 14 straight Rumble matches.
Carlito’s 1st WWE match since May 6, 2010. Carlito’s last WWE match was on WWE Superstars against his brother Primo. His last WWE appearance was on the May 10th RAW; he was fired on May 21 for violating the Wellness Program and refusing to attend rehab. In between, Carlito made one appearance on WWE TV, at the 2014 Hall Of Fame to induct his father Carlos Colón. This was his 1st WWE match in 11 years.
New record for Most Rumble appearances: Glenn Jacobs, 20. Jacobs is the 1st person to compete in 20 Rumble matches, with 1 Rumble as Isaac Yankem, 1 as Fake Diesel, and 18 as Kane, the Most Rumbles for 1 character.
Most Cumulative Eliminations in Men’s Rumble matches: Kane, 46. Kane extended his Rumble eliminations record with 3 more eliminations; he was at 43 before this match.
1st Father and Son to compete in the Same Rumble Match: Rey and Dominik Mysterio. Both men competed in the Rumble, the 1st time a parent and child have competed in the same Rumble match. But, both men weren’t in the match at the same time: Dominik came in 1st at 21 and lasted just 2 minutes, eliminated by Bobby Lashley. Rey came in at 26 and lasted 3:47 before Omos took him out.
1st non-entrant to score 2 eliminations in a Rumble match: Omos. Rumble competitors have been eliminated by non-competitors before, but Omos is the 1st to get 2 eliminations. He took out Big E and Rey Mysterio.
Christian’s 1st Rumble match since 2005. It was also the 1st time he and Edge competed in the same match since March 11, 2011, when they teamed up to take on Alberto Del Rio and Brodus Clay.
2nd Longest Gap between Rumble wins: Edge, 11 years. Edge joined Triple H in having an over-decade long gap between Rumble wins. His last win was in 2010. Triple H’s gap is longer at 14 years (2002-2016).
3rd Man to win the Rumble from Number 1: Edge. Edge joined Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit in winning the Rumble from Number 1. He’s also the 4th Rumble Winner to last over an hour; Edge’s time was 1 hour and 32 seconds. Funny enough, in his last Rumble win, he set the record Shortest Time for a Rumble winner at 7:37. He joined Ric Flair, Chris Benoit, and Rey Mysterio in the Hour Long Rumble Winners club. Also, Edge winning at Number 1 and Bianca Belair winning at Number 3 marks the 1st Time the Men’s and Women’s Rumble Winners came from Single Digit Numbers in the same night.
1st Man to reach 7 Final Fours: Randy Orton; 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2017, and 2021. He’s also the 4th Man to last over an hour in a Rumble without winning; Orton’s time was the same as Edge’s (1 hour and 32 seconds) since he drew Number 2. But, Orton spent most of his time out of the ring because of a knee injury at the hands of Edge. He wasn’t officially eliminated when he was taken to the back to get checked on and came back near the end to try and eliminate Edge. So, this marks the 3rd Time the 1st 2 Men in the Rumble match were also the Last 2 Men (1995 and 1999 were the others). And, he’s the 4th Rumble Iron Man to spend most of his time outside of the match, joining Stone Cold Steve Austin (1999), Vince McMahon (1999), and Roman Reigns (2016).
2nd and 3rd Longest Cumulative Time spent in Men’s Rumble matches: Randy Orton is now 2nd on the Longest Cumulative Time spent in the Rumble at 4:31:47 thanks to his hour long time in the 2021 Rumble (though he did spend most of his time outside of the match). And, Rey Mysterio is now 3rd at 4:05:41. They join Chris Jericho (4:59:33) and Triple H (4:00:50) in having spent over 4 hours in Rumble matches. Also, Edge got himself up to 6th place on the list at 3:31:51.

2022: 3rd Royal Rumble PPV/PLE to take place on a Saturday. The 2022 Rumble was held on Saturday, January 29, marking the 1st time since 1994 that the event was held on a Saturday. 1991 was the other Saturday Rumble. The 1991 and 1994 events were held on Saturdays because of the NFL Playoffs; in those years, there was no bye week between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl. This year was a similar situation, with the bye week happening on the 1st Sunday in February in 2022. So, the Rumble was held on the Saturday before the Conference Championships.
Roman Reigns’s 1st PPV singles loss since TLC 2019. Reigns lost his Universal Title match with Seth Rollins by DQ. While he retained the title, it was the 1st time he lost in a singles PPV match since losing to Baron Corbin in a TLC Match. Though, he did also lose the 2020 Rumble Match, being eliminated last by Drew McIntyre. Still, it was his 1st loss on PPV in 2 years.
1st Women’s Rumble to not feature NXT wrestlers. Since the Women’s Rumble was introduced in 2018, NXT women have been in the Rumble for every match until this year.
1st female Rumble combatant working another wrestling company: Mickie James. At the time of the match, James was not only working for Impact Wrestling but also the Knockout’s Champion. There had been other promotion’s wrestlers in Rumble matches before (see that stretch in the mid-1990s when WWE would bring in random guys from around the world to fill in spots), but this was the 1st time for a woman.
Ronda Rousey’s 1st WWE appearance since WrestleMania Statue Of Liberty. Rousey hasn’t been on WWE TV since her loss to Becky Lynch in the main event of that WrestleMania.
Shortest Time for a Women’s Rumble Winner: Ronda Rousey, 10:16.
1st Men’s Rumble to not feature NXT Wrestlers since 2015. In 2013, WWE started putting NXT wrestlers in the Rumble match. After doing so again in 2014, NXT was left out in 2015. Then, from 2016 to 2021, the Men’s Rumble had at least 1 NXT man in the match. This was the 1st time in 7 years that NXT wasn’t represented in the match.
1st Rumble Match to feature 2 celebrities: Johnny Knoxville and Bad Bunny became the 2nd and 3rd celebrities to compete in the Rumble match; Drew Carey was the 1st in 2001, 21 years earlier.
1st Celebrity to score an elimination in a Rumble Match: Bad Bunny. Bunny eliminated Sheamus by himself and Dolph Ziggler with the help of Rey Mysterio.
Shane McMahon’s 1st WWE appearance since WrestleMania Jolly Roger. Shane hadn’t been on WWE TV since he lost to Braun Strowman at the previous year’s WrestleMania. This also marked the 1st time he’d been in the proper Rumble match. He was in the Greatest Royal Rumble match back in 2018, and he did eliminate Shawn Michaels from the 2006 Rumble even though he wasn’t officially in the match.
1st Rumble winner to also lose a World Title in the same night: Brock Lesnar. Lesnar lost the WWE Title to Bobby Lashley thanks to Roman Reigns. Then, he entered the Rumble match at 30 and won. This also made him the 9th 2-time winner.
New record for Longest Gap Between Rumble Wins: Brock Lesnar, 19 years. Lesnar had last won the Rumble in 2003. His win here broke Triple H’s record, who had a 14 year gap between his 2002 and 2016 wins. Funny enough, in both of Lesnar’s wins, he pulled double duty in both wins. And, he entered in the last 2 spots in both years, winning from 29 in 2003 and 30 in 2022.
New record for Shortest Time for a Rumble Winner: Brock Lesnar, 2:30. Lesnar is the 1st person to win the Rumble match in less than 5 minutes. He broke Edge’s record from 2010 (7:37) by 5 minutes and 7 seconds.
New record for Number With Most Winners: 30, with 4 winners. Lesnar became the 4th man to win from the 30th number, joining The Undertaker (2007), John Cena (2008), and Triple H (2016). It’s tied with 27, which also has 4 winners: Big John Studd (1989), Yokozuna (1993), Bret “The Hitman” Hart (1994), and Stone Cold Steve Austin (2001).
