So, I watched the episode of Superstars from 30 years ago today, the last episode before the Royal Rumble.
Before the episode they promised Slaughter on Brother Love in the rundown. And then later in the show we had an update from "Mean" Gene where he says "We heard from the challenger Sgt Slaughter earlier." But the segment was nowhere to be seen.
However, my copy did have a match from MSG the previous year with Greg Valentine vs Saba Simba that I assume was to help sell the upcoming Valentine-Bravo match for the local market.
Was the Slaughter-Brother Love segment ever aired? All I can find online are the Summerslam and post-title victory appearances. Was this cut from every market, or just locally on my copy as a last effort for ticket sales?

Did Superstars air on Sunday in that market? In 1991 and '94 they had to do separate episodes of both Superstars and Challenge on Rumble weekend, because the Rumble was on a Saturday those years, with alterations to commentary and sometimes matches airing in place of last-second hype interviews and vice versa, depending on which day the show aired.

Brother Love goes on about Slaughter becoming the next World Heavyweight Champion but we are interrupted by a special news bulletin from Sean Mooney, who reads an official statement from WWF President Jack Tunney. The statement reads that the WWF abhors the views and statements by Slaughter & Adnan and that they do not represent Arab-Americans across the world. Mooney then applauds Tunney’s statement as we go back to the Brother Love Show where Slaughter promises to become the new World Heavyweight Champion then raise the title in the air to prove that he is the greatest champion of all-time. We then cut back to Mooney in the Event Center as he talks about the Warriors being in the Ultimate Warrior’s corner to overcome tyranny. The word “Commentary” is on the bottom of the screen now as Mooney wants those of all races, creeds, and religion to stand together. They are still really trying hard to get major heat with Slaughter the day of the Rumble and with the amount of time they are spending on this you can probably see he will become champion. You don’t build someone up like this as a challenger for them to lose.

Given you got an MSG clip instead I assume you were watching the NYC version of Superstars? I do not remember an interrupted Slaughter promo, so....
I also didn't remmeber them showing the Valentine face turn, so there you go.
Though...over on the Challenge thread, we are recalling that WWF did include some special region-specific content on their syndicated shows. Which was how the Hogan/Jake issue came about, and its status as lost media.

Interestingly enough, the 1/19/91 episode I found on YouTube does not have the Nasty Boys, but does have Sgt. Slaughter on the Brother Love Show.

And looking at that episode, it doesnt have the Mooney cutaway (the one on youtube looks to be sourced from a Classics on Demand copy), which must mean that the Mooney commentary was just to placate nervous affiliates and wasnt meant to be part of the show proper.
