I mean.... the more I think about this..... could all of this cooperation, if it holds, lead to a MAJOR card (a la Wrestlemania/Wrestle Kingdom) here in the States. All these companies working together to co-promote a huge two night even would be amazing and I absolutely would pay to see if built like it seems like it is. I'm sure this is still a pipe-dream, but it's now beginning to look like something that could possibly be a thought. Yes, I got the pandemic.... so thoughts of this is probably 2-3 years down the road at least.... and a LOT can change in that time.
This is what people want, I truly believe. WWE has failed to listen and still continues to operate in their "house" like nothing else is going on. I still pay attention to it, but I'm not watching weekly, pretty much just watching the "PPVs". I'm watching AEW weekly and I'm invested. I BOUGHT the last PPV and am leaning towards buying the next one. I've paid more attention to Impact and now NJPW is involved and it sounds like they are getting some kind of TV deal to watch here in the US. I can honestly see my attention to WWE waning.

Brody King vs Archer is much more appealing. One problem, he's signed to ROH Everything that Khan has done...... working out some relationship with ROH wouldn't surprise me down the line.

I have similar thoughts as I do with the Impact relationship. While the idea of some dream match ups is great and likely will happen the big win for AEW is also thr connection for New Japan Strong. You like a guy like guys that come from the Nightmare Factory but don't have anything for them to do? Get them working some Strong tapings and more seasoning. It gives AEW the excursion system as well.

Vince (30+ years ago); I will kill the territory system and create one wrestling world under my umbrella and rule the wrestling world!
Tony Khan (2019); Hold my beer....
(God I still can’t believe this is happening. It’s so goddamn wonderful.)

If they can figure out the politics of it, it'd be huge. I think the best way to do it might be to go with AEW, NJPW, IMPACT matches on the same card and then some sort of big cross-over main event to try and limit the drama between promotions. If we're sitting here in 2022 and there's some sort of Forbidden Door PPV at MSG, that's how you know wrestling's really changed.

The disrespect to TNA's name smh. People talking like this is groundbreaking when TNA was doing it over a decade ago. The Dudleys held both the TNA and IWGP tag belts at the same time, Angle held the TNA World and IWGP World titles, Liger wrestled Joe at Bound For Glory, AJ wrestled a young Tanahashi on PPV, TNA stars appeared on Wrestle Kingdom, etc.
How did that partnership end? To hazard a guess I'll say Dixie somehow screwed it up.

Now those partnerships having more active roles in main events of multiple promotions? Little different

TNA kind of earned that "disrespect" Tanahashi thrown in a lot of filler X Division stuff, returns to Japan and becomes the Ace of the promotion. Okada had a horrible gimmick, returns to Japan as The Rainmaker. That IWGP Tag Title reign for Team 3D? They drop the belts to British Invasion which NJPW never agreed too. Naito (NO LIMIT days) lost a handicapped match to Kevin Nash. All this to say, NJPW is way more known to todays western fans, and its health as a promotion can't be overstated compared to when they were still rebuilding from Inoki-ism, than when partnering with TNA in the late 00-early 10s.

So Mox is straight up holding the IWGP US Title in this. Frigging surreal. I’d be shocked with anything less than 900K when the numbers come out next week

TNA technically served as Okada's excursion with the idea that NJPW was putting a lot behind him as a star-in-the-making. And TNA completely TNA'd it up.

Dude has the record of destroying a relationship with New Japan in two different companies which almost has to be commended. Almost.

One thing that no one here has mentioned yet that Meltzer brought up, and could be a huge incentive for New Japan to go all in (no pun intended) on this relationship- excursions for young lions. Between Dynamite, Dark, and a possible second live weekly show, guys like Uemura, Tsuji and Gabe Kidd could benefit greatly from an excursion to AEW, they would be getting regular and consistent reps in front of live crowds every week. It also gives AEW access to new talent. It would be win-win.

I'm sure AEW would love to have Baron Black or Lee Johnson do a few tours of NJPW. I suspect that the likes of Abadon and Dani Jordyn would have gone to TJPW or Gatoh Move last year if 2020 hadn't been 2020.
