Recent James Bond movies have been a big advert, even get dialogue to sell a watch, beer, etc. Hate it. I watched Goldeneye recently and the BMW Z3 is on screen for maybe a minute and literally nothing cool happens with it. Although I've heard BMW got really good publicity of Bond switching from Astons.

I am amazed the Krispy Kreme stuff from the 2017 Power Rangers movie didn't make the cut though. I know a lot of people hated that. I feel like people really exaggerate the Krispy Kreme stuff. It was mentioned a few times but people act like the whole movie was a Krispy Kreme ad.

this is probably the best Maybe I'm wrong on this one, but for me, the beast doesn't include selling out.

the transformers films are not very subtle about product placement (I dont mean the vehicles.), but the fourth one is probably the worst for it. Mark Wahlberg chugs a Beer front and centre of the camera comes to mind

Product placement is fine in movies like Bond because it adds authenticity to see real brands, and most people wouldn't be able to afford that stuff anyway.
If Bond was using a "Domega" or driving a "Aston Marlin" it would just look dumb.

Fuller, go easy on the Pepsi!
Apparently he didn't get paid enough because he's drinking Coke at the beginning of the second movie.

There’s something strangely more realistic and devastating when a corporate business is destroyed in a movie instead of some generic mom and pop place.
IHOP in Man of Steel
7-11 in Terminator Salvation
There are ones I like Starbucks in Fight Club (the anti product placement) Dr. Pepper in Spider-Man.
Then there’s cringe worthy ones like Bing in Amazing Spider-Man or Tony Stark craving a cheeseburger only to get Burger King

Recent James Bond movies have been a big advert, even get dialogue to sell a watch, beer, etc. Hate it. As much as I love Casino Royale it’s the worst offender of product placement in recent Bond history. There’s that insufferable prick Richard Branson shoe-horning himself into the film in exchange for Virgin getting some publicity. But even worse is that scene between Bond and Vesper on the train. It’s a really good scene and there’s a chemistry between the two that very few Bond/Bond Girls have ever had. Then there’s a line about expensive watches where Vesper asks Bond if his watch is a Rolex. He replies “Omega”. She replies “beautiful”. I know she’s making a comment about Bond’s character but it sounds like an advert.

When he had his massive drug issues, it was getting a "disgusting" burger at Burger King that gave him a moment of clarity, and he tossed all his drugs.

Friday the 13th Part 3 at the beginning when the store owner takes a dump there’s a box of Coca Cola and he pulls a bottle of whiskey out of it.

I’m guessing the issue is that Krispy Kreme isn’t just a short product placement dealie, it’s practically a plot-relevant point (the McGuffin’s location being underneath the place).

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I found the Krispy Kreme product placement in that movie to be so over-the-top and hilariously done that I couldn't help but enjoy it. In a different type of movie I would almost believe it was meant as a parody.

I thought that too, I laughed out loud when they cut to Rita herself chowing down on a donut in the middle of the big fight scene at the end of the movie. They should have even took it a step further and dubbed in some cheesy lite music (Like that Girl From Ipanema song) over that scene.

The other thing is when someone goes to a bar and orders Beer brand beer.
Not sure what the solution is between having blatant product placement and everyone having generic products.
