The other thing is when someone goes to a bar and orders Beer brand beer. Not sure what the solution is between having blatant product placement and everyone having generic products. Just make up a brand name... worked for Quentin Tarantino (Red Apple Cigarettes) and The Simpson’s (Duff)

I don't mind someone, like, drinking a Coke and having the can angled so that you can see the logo. That's just kind of whatever. Where it gets jarring is if you have like that period on SVU where they were constantly doing closeups on people's cellphones for no real reason.

I would say This is the End, but even that product placement wasn't bad because, well, some of it was a joke in itself. The Carl's Jr bit, that was a joke because Seth Rogen was making a crack about going on a cleanse, and then he and Jay just pull the trigger and grab some Carl's Jr. I wouldn't call the 7-Eleven part a joke as they just happened to be there. Then finally, you have the Milky Way scene, which was a major gag if I ever saw one. Sure, Seth was talking about all of the stuff they had. Sure, he mentioned Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Nutella, but the camera zoomed in on the Milky Way, and then they start arguing about who gets a bite of the candy bar.

Ever see the early 80s slasher My Bloody Valentine? Every beer in the film is a Moosehead.

Not a movie (well the new ones) but the original TV show had a shit ton of Pizza Hut in it For real, it seemed like that was all Lelouch and C.C would eat at times. Michelangelo from TMNT was all "lady, ease up on the pizza, I don't get why you're still so skinny."

Can't gain weight when you are an immortal witch (according to Lelouch) They did make the Pizza look odee good tho

I loved Pizza Hut all over the place in Code Geass. "We may live in a totalitarian hellscape of an occupied country, but at least we have Pizza Hut!"

Not a movie but it’s always worth mentioning.
For the Canadian simulcast of Hell’s Kitchen, they decided to digitally insert product placement. So when the chefs are sitting around arguing, there’s a Mr. Sub sandwich sitting there. As though I believe during filming, someone flew from LA to Canada just to get everyone some shitty subs....for Gordon Ramsey.
I don’t think the idea lasted long.

Came in this thread just to say Man of Steel. Glad to see I was beaten to it by the very first reply. Mark Wahlberg chugs a Beer front and centre of the camera comes to mind they focus on a bud light truck just before he crashes into a car, then pans over a load of bud light bottles on the floor, he then picks up a bottle opens it on a car door chugs it then throws it on the floor while keeping a goodyear truck in the background. If I didn't know this was a Michael Bay movie, I would think this was a parody of Michael Bay movies. The product placement, the American flags, the 'splosions, the juvenile displays of aggression masquerading as masculinity.

One thing I've noticed while discussing elsewhere, the best and worst is Castaway.
People would say how it was a complete product placement commercial for FedEx, weirdly overlooking that his best friend was a volleyball he kept calling by brand name.

Popeyes Chicken in Little Nicky.
I swear there’s a subway commercial level of product placement in Coneheads.

Popeyes Chicken in Little Nicky. I swear there’s a subway commercial level of product placement in Coneheads. Happy Gilmore made me want to go for Subway, I tell you. Now that I think about it, Love Don't Cost a Thing (that movie with Nick Cannon and Christina Milian) had a lot of Sean John product placement, making it seem like it's some kind of fashionable, expensive, you're-not-cool-if-you're-not-wearing-it clothing line.

Popeyes Chicken in Little Nicky. I swear there’s a subway commercial level of product placement in Coneheads. Adam Sandler's Happy Madison output in general. Al Pacino does a whole Dunkin Donuts song in Jack and Jill. RedLetterMedia did an incredible whole two part video about Jack and Jill on it. Basically Sandler makes movies in locations he wants to take vacations, pays his friends to act in them, and has gratious product placement to help fund the cost of movie making. Didn't help his output was backed by Sony for a time, which of course always had Sony products in it. Does anyone use a Vaio for computer stuff? I'm not even an Apple user but I think Macs are the standard, or so it seems.
