I sure hope they do stick with the story beats and don't cave to pressure because Part 2 is one of the best videogame experiences I've ever had. I have hope since Neil is working on the show and I doubt he'd let them f*** it up.
Joel, Ellie and a certain person from Part 2 are 3 of the best written characters in all of games imo.

Huh, the bridge in that trailer is very obviously the I-470 bridge near Wheeling. Kind of off the beaten path as far as filming locations go, though if they filmed around Pittsburgh or went over to the Abandoned PA Turnpike (which seems pretty much obligatory for any zombie or post-apocalyptic flick or series) I could see them passing through and going huh, that'll work.

They already said the show will deviate greatly from the game. I can see some stuff being same but sequences will probably be changed around or situations may happen out of order

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}So are they going to have Joel walk around with a big 'I'm evil' sign so people don't get upset when Abby smashes his head in with a golf club while making Ellie watch because Joel killed (actually the game made you kill him) a random npc while trying to save who had become basically his adopted daughter from having parts of her brain cut out and removed? {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Eh, it's not like Joel was ever portrayed as a "good" person. In a world where you're literally just trying to survive, you do what you have to, but even Joel's choice to save Ellie from the surgery was entirely selfish and not even what Ellie wanted. Depriving the world of a cure doesn't exactly earn you hero status.

I trust the guys in charge to tell a compelling story, I just hope they keep true to the actual characters.

I'd thought they would split the first game's story between two seasons considering it's going to be 9 episodes for the first season.
I know there is a lot of story in the game that would make the show feel like it's dragging things out as a tv series to anyone who hasn't played the game, but I cant really think of much that would need to be cut out to really streamline the story (sure tension building sections of the game designed to slow you down could get streamlined down.)
seems a weird choice to condense it into one season when tv/film companies mine out every little speck of money from a series/franchise

I was kind of figuring they'd just go off in a wildly different direction early-in instead of adapting the first game straight, much less the second.

If anything, it allows them to streamline TLOU2 more in sequence so could get possible sightings of future characters this season But yeah I am shocked it seems TLOU1 is being done in 1 season. Certain things can take up one episode in itself like the beginning but they probably just want to go guns blazing instead of slow pace {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} Considering it looks like there is no David based upon casting that takes at very least 2 episodes away

I thought it would be somewhat like Walking Dead where they are hitting the same story beats from the source material but changing outcomes and situations

So THAT storyline may not be dropped

I only actually got around to trying it a couple of years ago and played up through the end of the hotel setpiece and it was just kind of, "This gameplay is fine, I guess, rather bleh, and I don't like any of these people." Maybe it'd change if I actually went back and finished it but never found myself with any real desire to.

I would say one day go back and give it another shot if anything Gameplay is solid and story holds up very well

And here was me thinking TLOU2 already had TLOU3 bolted onto it.
