My predicted winners are Yuka, Emi, Ryo, and Aja. Largely because I am feeling confident in Ryo as the eventual winner, and that result makes the most sense for her to move forward.
(...beating Maki right out of the gate might not endear her too well to people coming in who have decided to root for Maki, though.)

This is still a very odd choice for me. As a US based fan I have no reason to be invested in any of these characters that they need their own bracket. I expect the matches will be good, but AEW is going to have to put in a lot of work to sell these characters.

Well Kenny's been hyping the Joshi side of the tournament saying its going to be incredible.

While Emi and Yuka got some TV time early on, it's a hard sell for anyone who isn't curious for the sake of curiosity, or who hasn't heard of the likes od Maki Itoh and Aja Kong. I hope that the booking is done in a way that makes at least the winner look amazing, but if I am right in guessing Ryo, I worry that she will be coming to the US ice cold unless every one of her matches is the best on the card (and her bracket might not lend itself to that). In general, I have felt that the joshi have gotten this treatment of, "You're a hardcore wrestling fan who's heard of joshi wrestling, right? Well, here's some!" And the only actually compelling stuff has been the actual angles like Riho/Nyla and Yuka/Britt. Given the general weakness with women's angles in AEW, that makes me worry for the winner.

It definitely is an uphill battle but I think they succeeded when they brought in Riho and Shida who were both cold to the American audience and each of them managed to get over. I have faith that the winner of the Joshi bracket will be more than a body in the finals.

They realize that this is something more for a niche audience as opposed to their main tv show.

Won't be any fans in attendance for this which is a bummer.
Hope they all got time for matches.

The Mae Young Classic's didn't give a ton but they gave enough and as the tourney's went on you began to undersand the girls better and little things began to develop. There are already a ton of characters in this with Maki, Yuka and Aja alone. There shouldn't be a huge issue selling these ladies to the audience

Aside from Aja Kong, who I am excited to see again just because even I know of her reputation, this is exposing how poor the AEW woman's roster is imo. Sign some talent, use the talent, write characters and stories for the talent and make me care about that talent. Internet name value for die hard fans and what I am sure will be great matches (if you like their style) just isn't enough for me to care. It's a nice idea, but I just want more foundation to the division as a whole before we go for this sort of thing.

This is, quite literally, the only way they can introduce these Japanese talent, their gimmicks, and personalities in a meaningful way while keeping it canon to AEW until the pandemic travel restrictions lessen. Like the US Girls side is quite solid and is only getting better, it's a pretty sound idea to lay the seeds for more characters like Maki Itoh, rentroduce girls like Emi, Yuka and Riho, and have legends like Aja Kong in a tourney. And it was sorely needed, because Shida ran through the entire division like a f***ing train. She needed a break, and girls needed to be built up.

Going with Ryo just based off stuff like Kenny being a big fan, her almost retiring until her Double or Nothing Match, her current booking in Japan, rumors of moving, and some of the booking dates of the other joshi in the tournament. Plus she's just a really good wrestler and fun character. Hoping VENY at least wins in the first round though.

I'm not too familiar with all the talent to snub anyone, but I'd love to see Rina Yamashita in some sort of fashion in AEW sometime. I don't watch enough joshi, but she is easily one of my favorites.

I'm ok with it if it means AEW gets another solid upper card talent on a consistent basis too. Her and Riho add so much stability to the roster by themselves, and then Statlander's due back soon.

Ryo winning tonight means she is winning the whole thing.
Tourney will be 1 hour and 3 mins long so its clashing with Raw.

It's gonna be interesting because realistically she could just come to AEW without winning, but you could build her up as well They put her against Itoh, that's the big clash of interests here.
