My gut says they're killing time for Edge / Reigns at Summerslam. It does feel weird that Edge hasn’t been seen or heard from since Mania. Not even backstage news or random media interviews. If they’re gonna bring him back just to get stacked and pinned again it’s a mistake, though.

On a somewhat rebated note: Bray Wyatt’s mental health issues aside, the obvious payoff for The Fiend/Alexa Bliss story was for one of the good guys to step up as the white Knight to snap her out of it and save her from him. BUT I honestly could not think of a single person on the roster who would come across as credible in that role. There simply are no pure faces out there that I could realistically buy as rescuing the damsel in distress for wholly altruistic reasons. That is how flawed the writing and presentation has become. And that carries over to Roman’s lack of believable opponents. It’s depressing.

*BE BEEP BEBEBE BEEEP BEBEPEBEBPE*
Breaking Roman News Network BREAKING NEWS UPDATE 5/21/21:
Despite retiring Daniel Bryan, beating both him and Edge at Wrestlemania, and now Cesaro, Roman Reigns has yet to take a metaphorical pie in the face, let alone look even slightly off, nearing full Cool Heel™ status. In a probably more important update, his look was very cool tonight.

And that carries over to Roman’s lack of believable opponents. It’s depressing. I know he's a heel and on another brand but Marcel Barthel would be perfect for a role like that. Guy really has a Prince Charming leading man come to the rescue of the fair maiden look to him. As far as people who are on Raw and currently faces maybe Humberto Carrillo? I haven't payed hardly any attention to Raw for the last year so maybe he's done stuff that I've missed that's made came off like an ass but from what I've seen he seems like someone who could fit well in that role in that he's a young good looking white meat babyface type who comes off like a good guy. Another problem though along with finding faces who fit the role character wise is finding faces believable enough to be able to stand up to the Fiend. It's no secret WWE books almost of their faces like goobers so finding one credible enough to beat a heel who has been put over as this nearly unstoppable super natural character is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I mean Nikki being able to save her friend is right there... but... she kinda just stopped trying to help her... and then disappeared off Television not entirely sure what this has to do with Roman though >_>

It’s all people Roman has worked with already-many times, in fact. And very few of them have been depicted as straight up baby faces in a long time. Like how a character like The Fiend really does need a pure face character to work off.

At least Roman is putting on quality matches. That's more than you can say about HHH's reign.

So a week after Roman brutalizes Rey's son, Rey challenges him to a HIAC match then tries to beat him down with a kendo stick. And loses. Then Dom shows up and gets powerbombed out of the ring. Then Rey attacks again. And loses.

I mentioned this in the Smackdown thread, but when John Cena got attacked in a feud, he at least sold some moves and stayed down.

I don't really understand why someone decided, "Rey Mysterio gets his ass kicked by Brock Lesnar repeatedly, decides to cheat like crazy fighting him, gets his ass effortlessly kicked yet again anyway and so does his son," is ground you want to tread on again.

One week, a Smackdown will end with Roman on the ground. Not necessarily after losing a match (or the title), but someone will get one over him. I live in hope!

Roman was that dude tonight. He was spitting to Jimmy and he tossed Dom into the Shadow Realm. Rey's gonna get his ass beat lol.

He really does need the ultimate karmic retribution when this is thru.

Honestly just one pie in the face would really do wonders for him. But instead he beats up the chef, burns the bakery down, and then the mayor gives him the key to the city, then Roman beats them up too. He's a Cool Heel Villain Sue. He went from Tywin Lannister to Ramsay Bolton.

He really does need the ultimate karmic retribution when this is thru. That's the thing in this, the longer this goes on, the bigger his downfall has to be. You'd almost have to literally kill off the character to make up the difference at this point and write him out when that happens. And even then... Would one thing like that be enough? Would people be demanding he gets booked as an enhancement talent for like a year and just get beaten all the time?
