It’s like WWE took away the wrong lessons from the Super Cena backlash and the initial Roman solo push and decided to veer into the other direction. I've made this comparison before, but WWE heels went from Elmer Fudd to Thanos, with no balance between the two. Hey, Fudd did manage to kill Bugs once

I think you can count on your hand the timee Smackdown ended where Roman is laying unconscious during this heel run. Can you remember any specifics? I think one smackdown ended with Owens giving Roman the stunner. Maybe Edge speared him to end a show once? That's about it. Demon Finn laying out Roman and the Usos before the PPV., and I think Bryan got him and Edge once, too.

Woods won King of the Ring and was the only bright spot left in the WWE for me.
I just cancelled Peacock. I'm a day 1 WWE network sub. I'm done with this shit. Goodbye.

Is there any single person right now who is even halfway credible enough to get a win over ROman and elevate themselves to the main event? I don't mean Drew. Drew doesn't get elevation after his lengthy title run. I mean a new star who is brought up the card by a decisive, clean win over ROman. Who has face momentum on Smackdown? Does anyone have face momentum on Smackdown? Because this is only worth it and reasonable to have done if it makes someone new and makes them for life.

Cesaro, Owens, redubting Finn.... e.t.c but all of them were blasted by Roman

I’ve fallen off the bandwagon hard, but beating the shit out of Xavier Woods instantly makes me a huge fan again.

No possible comeuppance could make this Reigns run worth it at this point. It's been well over a year of him dismantling every single person he's interacted with. Even if someone new does beat him it can't possibly be worth the tons of other people who've been cut off at the knees getting there.
My guess is he's going to hold it all the way to Mania 39, beat the Rock, then do a half-assed face turn and continue the reign from there. Roman is the only person in the company they care about and all roads lead to him.

I haven’t watched WWE (except the Royal Rumble) in over 2 years. I feel like I’ve seen that exact shot ending Smackdown (give or take the crown) EVERY week. People always talk about “whoever beats Roman is gonna be made.” Oh yeah? When? And Roman is there main guy. They’ll probably give it back to him sooner than later. He’s the end game. They got what they wanted. He’s on top. I think you can count on your hand the timee Smackdown ended where Roman is laying unconscious during this heel run. And even on the less rare (but still very rare overall) beatdowns Roman technically loses, the dude literally just stops selling to get up and leave so they can get a shot of him looking slightly upset but still standing on the ramp lol

I love the Rock as much as the next gal but surely the payoff to this isn't a match with Rock. Right? Nah, Rock said maybe in the future so it's not soon. Given this feud's still going to continue according to Xavier's Twitter post where he said he's getting his crown back and that he broke Roman's streak by giving him his first single's loss since 2019, I'm guessing it'll depend on how the Big E/Reigns match goes. I can easily see this as a prelude to Big E/Reigns at WM. Given how this company works, I can see Rollins and Owens somehow screwing Big E over, Big E then either wins the Rumble and chooses Reigns or he somehow attacks him setting up their WM match. With Lashley, he destroyed Woods and Kofi and then Big E came and took his title. Now we're seeing Woods and Kofi getting destroyed again and ala, Big E will eventually face Reigns while Kofi and Woods beat the Usos for their titles. That's just what seems to potentially be happening. But it ain't gonna be Rock. He's just too busy.

There's more you can do with the former than the latter in terms of build.

Yeah... literally EVERYONE that has faced off with Roman has come off looking worse for it. it's not just that they lose... it's that they get curbstomped at every opportunity and it's made abudnantly clear either they're idiot/chokers like Owens... or they are treated like they shouldn't be in the same ring like Cesaro ... or treated like a complete afterthought like Finn... who was made to look like a buffoon and they basically flat out killed his gimmick in the process...

And with Finn, he doesn't even acknowledge he was screwed over by unusual circumstances. He's just like "Oh, that sucks. Time to enter King of the Ring!" Like, by kayfabe accounts, he deserves a rematch.

Here's my issue with the misery booking. For me it's not about being dominant. It's that every single feud he has been in feels or actually is filler. Like based on how they book things, I'd say there hasn't been the right guy, time, or place to have him lose. With HHH in 03-04, there were plenty of "right times" for him to drop it. It felt suspenseful, even though we should have known better. With Roman it's like okay "it's this guy who's biding time this month." None of it has any substance.

I'd go on and say that's a large issue with modern WWE as well. We have a lot of champions since I don't know, I started watching again in 2011, that feel like they're just bidding time until they lose the belt. It's not a situation where we know they'll lose it soon. We just don't know. Tag team championships these days are the biggest offenders. They're the go to "hey we want people to know you're important so we'll put you with someone else, give you these belts and hold up for a while" belts.

The rumor I've seen for Mania is Reigns / Lesnar and I see zero reason not to believe that given they have unfinished business, it's not like anyone else is a credible threat to Roman at this point, and it's not really clear what the hell Brock would be doing instead.
