They booked themselves in a corner. Brock would have made Mania have a happier ending. But it was clear as day that Roman was winning. He is the one whose full time and would be there the next day. Brock ain’t working full time.

I'm coming around more and more to the idea of Cody Rhodes just beating Roman hilariously in a squash. Not a squash but I think Cody or Seth will take the WWE title very soon while Roman will keep the Universal.

Yeah, they were gonna put both world titles on a part time guy who only shows up for the biggest paydays.

Roman Reigns is about to get drowned in a tidal wave of pontification and America

The aspect of Unifying Belts just for the champion to immediately lose one but not the other feels so... dumb to me. But if Roman holds both belts for too long it'll be hell anyway.

I don’t know what people were expecting. Roman needed to finally beat Lesnar at mania. It was going to be a finshier spam like all their other matches. The crowd was into it. So that helped. The real question is was the match cut short. There’s no one in the company that can beat Reigns maybe Gable Stevenson.
That being said it’s one of the main reasons weekly shows are almost unwatchable.
Also f*** Jimmy Uso.

It's still the first time they've ever had a heel world champ retain a title through two straight Wrestlemania events which is such a bizarrely downer thing that I think warrants some discussion for the cynical state WWE's at with their storytelling. Really if Reigns just got his ass kicked a bit more convincingly than reigns: "my arm hurts he broke it" heyman: "get up and win" reigns: "ok" *spears immediately, wins It'd be a lot less bitter a pill to swallow. They haven't been able to capture the magic of the WM31 match for that.

I'm pretty sure they're not splitting the belts for the time being. Their social media is really pushing the "Undisputed WWE Universal Champion" moniker right now.

I like both Brock and Roman and think Reigns should be champ... but that match was awful. No story to it, just the same five moves being done repeatedly in different orders.

I'm not a f***ing "Roman apologist". I am a fan of his. I can have my opinion about it. I like the guy, he's developed tremendously as a performer in the last two years, but come on now, at this point he's beaten literally everybody in the company with any credibility. He's been booked like a demigod, and it stopped being a positive about a year ago.

I’m still confused about the unification of the WWE Universal and WWE Championship, didn’t images leak a few weeks ago of the proposed new championship that represented the unification of the two titles?… Or was the dispelled as fake news?
I’ve always been under the belief that whomever won, the lineage of their title would continue while the other would be retired, or something to that effect.
If Reigns is going to be walking around defending both championships, essentially becoming Roman Two-Belts than he’ll obviously go the route of Becky Lynch and lose one of them within in the next month or so, or maybe they’ll have him hold both belts until SummerSlam before dropping one in Las Vegas in July.

[The year is 2050, Roman Reigns has been undefeated for three decades, and has been the reigning NXT NA, NXT UK, NXT, 24/7, US, IC, Universal, and WWE champion since the mid-2020s]Roman apologists: "He still needs this next win to truly cement himself." I'm not a f***ing "Roman apologist". I am a fan of his. I can have my opinion about it. Dude you came into a "Roman Misery Booking" thread and tried to defend the booking... I don't know what you expected to have happen? People in this thread hate Roman or are absolutely tired of him. You can be a fan all you like, but just... not particularly the room for it lol.

So like.... what now? Who is there left that he hasn't beaten? Cody? Another year and then Roman gets beaten by Rock at next year's Wrestlemania?

Realistically he should lose the Unified Belts to someone so he finally f***ing snaps and then maybe like wins them back a few months later... but I have no faith in that happening.

40+ years ago, you could get away with these kinds of lengthy title runs simply by virtue of how differently media was consumed and how there was far less of it to consume. And even then, you weren't showcasing your top stars constantly. You didn't have hours upon hours of weekly content that demanded the constant presence of your top stars. Things like closed-circuit TV and PPV were not the proven commodities they'd eventually become to the pro wrestling business. It was such a different climate and you could get away with guys like Bruno, Pedro, Backlund, et al having these super-long runs without burning out your fanbase. But now we do have the aforementioned hours of weekly content with the top stars constantly being featured. We do have 12 or more PPVs I'm sorry, premium events, a year. Which means the demand for content alone has caused them to burn through every credible opponent for Roman several times over over the course of what is right now a 19-month title reign with no end in sight. It's not compelling storytelling. It's lazy, tedious, and downright boring.
I feel like Roman really came into his own with this character. He's the most comfortable he's ever been in the ring and on the mic. The first few months of storytelling were just classic and absolutely on point. Then they decided that telling a good story was just too hard, and now we have this.

Cole spoiled something again by stating Lesnar held the "current" version of the championship, maybe just the finish, but likely some future plan. Hopefully, that offers you some hope, but me? I'm loving this.
