Well Cena wasn’t because Cena never went two years without taking a loss or dropping a belt.

It took finally turning him heel and booking him as oop to a level that has not been seen since 80’s babyface Hogan, to finally make him a “big star.” “Hey all we had to do was have him annihilate everybody and not get pinned or submitted as a heel in TWO YEARS, for people to finally get behind him.” It’s the Charlotte Flair syndrome. Meanwhile, others have gotten better over despite being given FAR less by WWE. Yeah, it always seems strange when people lavish praise on him for this run. I mean his singles push started 8 years ago, he won his first WWE title 7 years ago. He's been champion for approaching 2 years , he's unbeaten for nearly 2 and a half years, he's never portrayed as weak or threatened or vulnerable. He ends every single show on top and then wins at the PPV. He's portrayed as so far above everyone else on the roster, I'm not even sure Hogan was ever portrayed as this superior to everyone else, Cena either. I really do think you give that sort of push to most other guys in WWE and they also get over to a similar degree. Yeah he's over now, and he's seen as a big star by my God look at what they've had to do to make it happen. Hulk Hogan took lumps pretty often actually... even if he didn't LOSE matches... Hogan would be like injured by Earthquake, or choked by Andre... or outsmarted by Heenan... etc. So yeah... Roman is being pushed HARDER than Hogan... and he kinda always has been. His personality being literally everything... was a main issue... but another issue was like look at his Rusev feud... he comes out and calls Rusev's wife a whore... and then he beats up Rusev constantly for weeks... and then they have a match... like... we've already seen Roman beat the crap out of Rusev to hte point that even segments it looked like Rusev walked out on top of... Roman lol noped and stood tall at the end of instead... Hell look at the Jericho/Owens vs. Roman feud... Roman punks both of them for months and then the big question is how can Roman beat both of them? Like ... we haven't been seeing that the entire time...

Honestly I would not mind seeing Roman vs. The Rock.
It’s the idea that they might have Roman go yet another year as champ and/or never losing just to do that match, THAT is what I dread.
Because I seriously doubt WWE can resist the urge to make it a title match.

Roman/Cena and Roman/Brock in theory should be matches big enough to not need the title. If they aren't especially Brock/Roman then sacrificing the roster to both has been a massive waste. Roman/Rock is the same deal

Rock vs Reigns for the title does nobody any favors cause Rock ending Roman's reign takes away from someone who could use the rub from beating Roman for the title. Unless Rock is willing to work a few months of regular television, has some matches and eventually drops it to someone. That would be quite a big rub. The sad thing is, even if Rock was willing, what are the chances they'd instead have him surrender it?
I'd love to see Cody be the one to defeat Roman. Sadly I could see them not going that route. I don't know if Vince and company really resent what Triple H tried to build which was following what Dusty laid groundwork for. But if they really resent that, their poster boy (even if he's one of Dusty's kids so to speak) defeating Dusty's real son and the guy who made his success elsewhere... just feels like something Vince would do.
Who will end Roman's reign? At this point would it shock anyone if it was an actual forever title reign until he retires. They'd love to have that as a 'first ever' and did you know fact I'm sure.

I can't wait until Roman Reigns vs. Roman Reigns at Survivor Series to determine brand supremacy

Rock putting someone over gives me flashbacks to when he puts over The Hurricane but then HHH immediately squashed him afterwards pretty much nullifying The Rock putting him over and sending him right back to jobber purgatory. I would think it would be the same coming out of your scenario...Rock puts over someone before he leaves back to Hollywood only for Roman to completely steamroll them for the titles putting everything right back to square zero.

Nikamura would have been a better feud during that time he had that amazing run in the gauntlet match then they gave the match to Adam Pierce and then KO. What a stupid time that was.

Roman has the same problem that Britt Baker has x100.
If you can't look stupid, can't show fear, and can't get egg on your face, and you always outsmart or crush your opponent... you're not a heel.
Roman is not a heel, he's Vince booking a heel like a babyface but without all of the selling of peril that babyfaces are supposed to do.

Yeah, still have no idea what that was about. Like, in kayfabe, it made Adam Pearce look like a heel and an idiot. And not in a "heel looks like an idiot" way.

Been thinking this for a while but I feel like it's going to end up that "big brother Rock" comes back from college to defeat the mega bully Reigns and save his little brothers aka the superstars currently in WWE who can't beat Reigns. It sucks, I don't want it to go that way but that's what I feel will happen.

At the very least, WWE wants it to happen and more so now Rock’s basically used his network TV show to go “I want this to happen too”. Like I’ve said too many times, I’d imagine all the executives involved are chomping at the bit to do it. USA, FOX, Netflix, Sony probably benefits somewhat with Crunchyroll, all basically shaking Vince around going “MAKE IT HAPPEN, OLD MAN!”

Meanwhile the Hollywood studios are probably doing everything possible to stop it.

Didn’t Rock get hurt rather seriously the last time he wrestled a full proper match? And they had to shut down production on a movie he was working on at the time while he recovered?
And that was a decade ago. He ain’t getting any younger.

I’ll go ahead and say if he’s using his production to go out of his way to say it’s happening…there was probably things in the works where that could be approved on. Especially considering all the major projects he’s involved with at the moment are at the very least in pre or post production.

He tore his adductor and the top of his quad completely off his pelvis, requiring immediate triple hernia surgery that delayed the shooting of Hercules by two weeks, to the cost of $1 million.

Watch as it turns out Rock's schedule only allows him to have the match at Stomping Grounds or some similar b-level PPV.
