With the JJ comparisons, I do find it annoying some great talents can go 4 or 5 weeks without being on dynamite, and when they do its a throwaway match, but feels like Cody gets a meaningful match or promo every week. Going 2 or 3 weeks off tv wouldn't do him any harm
As for the comeback spot, I was really disappointed AEW did that. Its been done to death, and by this point the fans knew he'd be back. Hell you could not do that spot gor 4 or 5 years and it would still feel cliche when they did it again. Its one of those things WWE does that makes the product feel like a repeat, I was hoping AEW would have a big list of overdone tropes and make sure they didn't do them, but appears not
Or maybe it hasn't been done as much as I assume, but its felt like loads since I think Flair was the first in a MITB match? Might had one too I believe, but I'm sure there's many others?

His big comeback being booed was hilarious. I figured he would getting more boos, once fans returned. The injured but come back to (almost) win, doesnt make you a badass underdog. It makes you look like you took a breather while everyone else busted their ass and youre coming in rested to pull the rung out from someone else. The fact he's medical team never made it out of camera view was distracting and took away from the guys bumping in the match. I thought they were having a damn business meeting or something for as long they were there and how many guys he had out there around him

but he already won the TNT title..twice. - Lost championship match to jericho, meaning he can't challenge for it again (really should've loopholed as long as jerichos champ imo) - Lost to his protege MJF - Got annihilated by Brodie for the first title loss, and in hindsight i believe Brodies health may have had more to do with the second reign even happening - Lost the title to Darby - Popped all sorts of shit about show and go muscles, then lost to shaq - always claims to be the ace, tom brady of aew..then loses the fave of revolution match while being mostly a non factor Dusty downloaded his mentality of "the man being bigger than the title "into Cody, and im not saying it like its bad thing either. But his thing is losing the big ones (aka hes getting everyone over) It’s a nitpick, but I wish they would have found a way to do it in a more subtle way.

Cody was in the match likely to give the other guys the rub. Though the execution of the match kinda flew in the face of those intentions with all the focus on the medical team tending to Cody after his big bump spot and Scorpio Sky winnning.

Honest question who would people rather have in the spots Cody had gotten. The cage match against Wardlow before facing and LOSING to 23 year old MJF. Who would of gotten MJF and Wardlow more over in that spot? SCU? Kenny? Jericho? Who would of been a better first TNT champion gotten people to care about it and to bring in New Indy talent with the challenge? Who else could of faced Shaq and gotten two women more over than themselves and pulled out a great match from a 40 plus year old non wrestler? I truly can't think of someone better in the spots he has gotten. He brings more eyes on the product and in a good way has gotten new talent over. Who else could Kingston have faced his 1st match in lost and still get signed and in the main event almost immediately after ? I get it if you just don't like him I'm just wondering who in AEW could fill his role? Yes. Kenny or Page... The match vs. The Bucks was great and most of the feud as well. They just kinda drifted after that... till everyone knew they were going to lose to FTR. Kenny's first year he lost all his personality once he lost to Mox and didnt find his personality till he beat Mox. There was the Buck feud, Pac, and all these other challenges and he just stood there with his hands in his pockets. Of course in the ring he was fire, but outside I had friends asking what the fuss was about. Also Page for being the future face of the company, he sure stands around lot drinking beer... Give him something important, not just some throw away match with Matt Hardy. Jungle Boy, Lucha Brothers, Pac, Janella, Brian Cage, Colt, Lance Archer... So many other just working random tag matches, battleroyals and ladder matches. Cody had like 3.5 things going on at once. Maybe he wouldnt have to if they treated their other wrestlers as important. I love Impact. It's not best. But everyone is given character, motives, something to do. Backstage or in the ring. Its the best booked show in wrestling. I jokingly said to someone the other day that I know more able Fallah Bahh than I do Adam Page.

That shit in the tunnel was so distracting I didn't think so. It was in the background but the camera was focused on the match.

He is in desperate need of a revamping. His face run has quickly run its course. Even though he’s just as good in the ring as ever. If not better.
Doesn’t help that he’s always been much better as a heel. I think he could really help elevate people much better as a heel than he has a face.

And Cody hasn’t done anything anywhere near comparable to when Double J went over Monty Brown when he was on the cusp.

Well, they call it "upstaging" because stuff in the background (upstage) has a way of distracting and drawing attention...wouldn't be surprised if quite a lot of people found it distracting despite it not being a focus. At the least, a lot of play directors would have wanted to avoid having him be visible.

Cody is always gonna get the comparisons to trips and JJ because that's who the people that hate Aew want him to be. They actually get angrier the more he does things that don't resemble hhh/jj.
Same thing when a veteran arrives. They compare Sting to current Goldberg. You can't win with these people.

Why though? He’s not in the main event, he doesn’t dominate a championship, he’s not the owner of the company putting himself over everyone. He’s pretty better than Jeff Jarrett in every single way. Also Jarrett was NEVER as over as Cody is. The press conferences, the cage matches, getting his own title, the chain matches, the cross over with the nba, open changes, etc etc etc Yeah he might be losing and not be champion. He’s still front and center time and time again at to the point I feel diminishing the product. There’s so many story telling beats, and matches that could have gone to other guys. Yea, you don't have to just be champion for the comparison to work For me, he's in that JJ and HHH mode but he plays it more smart. Still over the top but he is able to get to the line without going too far over
