Didn't Sgt. Slaughter pin Ultimate Warrior with an elbow drop? It was after interference, but I still think he hit one before the pin, presumably to try to make him look at least slightly credible.
Outside of that, Dustin Rhodes has won matches as of late with a bulldog, but that is also considered one of his finishers for decades, so that's more a case where a move became mundane. He's also won with a scoop powerslam, but that's been years.

Undertaker using a leaping clothesline to pin King Kong Bundy at Mania 11, because he couldn't get Bundy up for any of his actual finishers. Definitely had to be one of the motivations for why he started using the running DDT for that kind of thing sometimes later, like on Rikishi at least once. |

All the clothesline finishes on early Survivor Series. That worked in some cases(like Duggan doing it to Valentine, since it's his finisher), but not so much in other cases(DiBiase doing it to Neidhart). |

Not a marquee match, but El Dandy once beat Evan Karagias on WCW Saturday Night with a big punch to the face. Karagias was chopping El Dandy in the corner, Dandy ducked one, cracked him in the face, and pinned him. It was awesome.
Bret had good reason not to doubt El Dandy.

Wasn't this the match where he regained but then lost the Urn? I think it played quite well into the storyline - the power of the urn allowed him to chokeslam Yokozuna but without it, he couldn't lift a smaller man so resorted to clothesline finishers. |
