Damn. That guy is a legend. UNC has been kind of an also-ran for a few years. Best to go out before people start questioning your ability. It's still a great job, so I wonder who abandons their team and recruits for it....

I assume everyone and their mother goes for this job I'm sure Shaka Smart wishes he waited another week instead of going from Texas to Marquette. I'd keep an eye on Jerry Stackhouse who has long been tabbed as a great coach and a future coach in the NBA. He left assisting in NBA to take the job at Vanderbilt and no doubt as a former tar heel he has to be on the list

Following a legend is always tough..... I remember Matt Doherty he followed Dean Smith/Bill Guthridge (I guess you could say Guthridge did alright, LOL). Doherty wasn't a complete disaster, but he wasn't great. Good luck to the next coach.

I want HC Rasheed Wallace just so the refs can throw him out of the game in two minutes.

Then again, Juwan Howard is doing just fine at Michigan. But I imagine there's more of a lay-up hire out there that they could hedge their bets with.

Brad Stevens job in the NBA keeps getting mentioned so I can see him jumping tho he doesn't want to Mark Few at Gonzaga would be really ideal. If he's going to leave for another job it would be this one for sure. Mike White at Florida I think would be a top name too Vince Carter has talked about coaching and I think he may be one but this is a job too big for him for someone with no experience

If they win the National Title, I could see him maybe calling it a career. If Few were ever to leave Gonzaga and keep coaching (assuming he is no interest in the NBA) I would assume this would be one of the very few (no pun intended) jobs that he would think about.

Mark Few is 58 He's up there but I can see him staying on for UNC for a few years and they build up an assistant coach under him. That's probably where you can attach a Vince Carter too tho as I said I can see Jerry Stackhouse He's young, a notable coaching name, has experience in coaching NBA and NCAAB, and an alumni. It would probably take him a year or two to get adjusted but he can bring UNC up and potentially be the coach for the next 20 years or so

I wonder if he would listen to UNC? He might be old ENOUGH to be set at Gonzaga for another few years are ride off. Who knows.

I’m still trying to process everything that happened on Thursday. Woke up with the news on my Twitter feed and I thought it was a dumb April Fools joke. I was lucky enough to follow his entire run at Carolina from beginning to end. Met him a few times and he was always a complete gentleman and funny man. Saw a lot of his biggest wins in person and also saw some of his most head scratching losses. I do hate that his career ended on such a down note in that ugly loss to Wisconsin in the NCAAT two weeks ago. I was skeptical that he would live up to the amazing legacy Dean Smith left at Carolina and I feel he did that and I know Coach Smith was/is proud of him.

Great to hear Hubert Davis got the job. He is my all-time favorite North Carolina player which is where my username came from. I remember when he was first signed by North Carolina and people said Dean Smith only recruited him as a favor to Hubert's uncle Walter Davis. Most people thought he would be a bench player but by his senior year he was averaging over 20 points a game which was the first time for a Tar Heel player since Michael Jordan. He was a first round pick for the New York Knicks and was on their team that made the 1994 NBA Finals.
