Mike Scully...where the quality went down a notch but the humour still landed.

Mike Scully...where the quality went down a notch but the humour still landed. There are some genuinely funny bits in the Scully Era, but the overall stories just gradually got worse as they got increasingly outlandish.

Triple H during the reign of terror had nothing on Homer during the Scully era.

The Mike Scully era begins Technically it was Season 9, but that had holdovers from Season 8, as well as episodes from Mirkin and Jean & Reiss. This is the first year Scully is all on his own. I still say the most stark contrast is Season 11, but here you get quite a few atrocities.

I believe it is next season when he becomes a food critic where he says he didn't get his comeuppance which really didn't happen until like the last second before the episode ended

When Mike Scully took over, he said to himself that he hoped he wouldn't Well... when we got to Season 13 and he was done, I believe the damage was done. I think his idea of the show was to be madcap wackiness as the late 1990s was gearing up for that, and that's why the show transitioned from being Bart-focused to Homer-focused. The Scully Era in particular just made Bart "Homer's sidekick" since they no longer found much use for him besides being a lackey pointing out the story. His evaluation of Season 11 is going to likely need pain medication. Mike of Me Blog Write Good is revisiting Seasons 1 through 11 currently, and I got a bad feeling about when he gets deep into Season 11.

The beginning of the end for me. I stuck around only for one more season as a regular viewer before abandoning the show after season 11.
Season 11's Behind The Laughter for me is the final episode of the show.

This is the season I first noticed the dip in quality, where the misses started piling up. When your Christmas episode is Homer being raped by a panda....this is where they became cartoons rather than people who happened to be cartoons.
