I liked Marky for a few months but unfollowed him because his style is grating. Some of his comments were…questionable. If he puts himself as a POS, I wouldn’t be shocked.

Um i thought the main reason Aries wasn't getting booked was less Speaking Out and more the fact that he's just a complete asshole and no one wants to deal with him. The Speaking Out stuff definately doesn't help his cause but he'd most likely be in the same situation anyway.
Making a video trying to defend him was certainly a choice.

My patience was wearing a little thin with him anyway, going to give this a miss
But the jist is of all the people to die on a hill for it's Aries?

This was the straw that broke the camels back
I was already under the impression that he was an asshole but this video and the way he undermines the shit that came out of Speaking Out...
When you get your love for TNA get in the way of human decency its time for me to unsub

That makes everything he said perfectly okay! *Obvious sarcasm.*

Yeah I just watched the Aries video and man.....
Dude had a lot of momentum, and got a ton of new subs from when I first started watching him.
I'm not sure why he chose this topic of all things to hang his hat on. Just...damn dude...
There's an audience for everything so I doubt he'll see too much flack, and the YT comments seem to be less "why did you make this" and more "yeah Aries is an asshole", but yeah....wow...

"It was 2013 when he did that to Christy. We didn't know any better."
2013? The year of Blurred Lines, and Robin Thicke having Miley twerk on him, and all the controversy that came with it?
Sexual harassment was not invented in 2017, you muscle-bound meathead! You're just playing dumb!

I had never had any problems with MarkyD's videos before the Asya one. That one I turned off partway through because I was so tired of hearing him whine about her being short, but even aside from that there was a... really weird uncomfortable vibe to that video.
I probably would've watched this one anyway, but decided to watch it now based on this thread.
Look, there is a LONG history of live audiences reacting positively to thinks that nobody should ever be reacting positively too. It goes back at least as far as people cheering Austin for hitting Stunners on random women for no reason. There was a big backlash against Aries shoving his crotch in Christy Hemme's face at the time, don't use "it was 2013" as an excuse, because it was seen as extremely scuzzy. Hell, back in 2002 the online fans were asking what the hell was wrong with live fans cheering Austin abusing women. I think it's because a lot of people aren't as nice as they like to think they are, and being in a big crowd makes them feel like they can unleash their inner asshole because they're just one of a mob. I've never heard anyone admit to being one of the RoHbots who chanted 'You've got herpes' at the female wrestlers and valets, but I'd bet dollars to donuts someone who did that is reading this thread.
I could live with one terrible take, though.
But when he follows up a list of stuff Aries did - asking a woman to kiss his sack, climbing into bed with one uninvited, groping a leg while she was sleeping - with this.
"He's not done anything that one of your mates wouldn't do."
Yeah, that's just... too disgusting for proboards-acceptable insults.

And he's all like "If a woman asks you to come home with her, what do you expect is going to happen" and "If a woman has drinks with you, what are you thinking that means?" and that sounds really, really, really bad. Maybe she just wants to hang out. Maybe she just wants to have drinks with a friend. Maybe you having a penis and her having a vagina isn't on her mind. And even if it was, it's still pretty skeezy to just declare intent like that. Like "I am invited to your house, and I have a penis, so you must want my penis. Also you gave me drinks while at your house, and I have a penis, so you must REALLY want my penis" is just another level of what the f*** I've never understood from dudes.

I dunno guys for me this all comes off as Marky's bitterness towards modern wrestling and the IWC trying to stir everyone's pot especially since I gather a lot of people were just looking for more reasons to get mad when it came to the guy.
Will this stop me personally from watching him? Not really but only if he covers something I care about. His videoz are hit and miss for me even before this.

I'll never get over how — in any industry — there can be a talent [let's call him X], and literally everyone within that industry who's worked with X will talk your ear off about how X is a world-class asshole and wasn't worth the headache, and yet there will never be a shortage of people from the outside looking in, who don't know shit about the behind-the-scenes and have never met X, crying about how X was unfairly CANCELLED and didn't get a fair shake.

To be fair I don't recall Marky saying it was unfair, or that it wasn't completely unwarranted, he just thinks some of the things were not as big a deal as others claim. Granted I think he's wrong, but it's not like Marky was throwing a total bitch-fit over it. He just says what happened and tried to play devil's advocate in Austin's defense.

I'm glad we're a forum where everyone is actually socially aware enough that we don't have to play the game of "have you asked a single woman if this is OK?"

His newest video for those who still care enough to keep watching his content is about Jesse Sorenson.
Wow... If everything before that incident didn't make you despise Dixie Carter as a person this darn sure should. What a heartless witch to do that to the kid.

I think his TNA videos tend to be the best because he clearly watched it and was a fan. With the stuff he isn't familiar with, sometimes he comes across a bit too mean spirited

I'll still watch even when I don't agree about all the videos. Kinda like how I still watch the Drive-Thru when I'm interested in the topics. Nostalgia Critic too, for a non-wrestling example.
