He's obviously got time to develop but WWE very rarely gives announcers leeway to actually get good. With that in mind, I bet Phillips is back in the chair by SummerSlam. Vic Joseph was doing a fine job and I was bummed they got rid of him.

That commentary team became a true team when Wade Barrett showed up, he’s freakin’ fantastic. Beth is also really good.

Adnan mentioned on a podcast that Nick Khan used to be his agent so that definitely helped bring him in to WWE.

Khan has been getting praise for his work so far but if it's true that he gave this guy a job and threw him onto Raw right away just because they had a prior relationship it's not really a good look. He might become good but right now he's just not ready. If they wanted to give him a shot they should have started him off on one of the smaller shows with less pressure. Instead he's out there drowning on Raw and getting clowned for it. Now he might never get the chance to become good if the narrative sticks that he's a terrible meme announcer and they give up on him in a month or two.

It's basically what happened with Mike Adamle all over again.

Yeah, I don't see why you couldn't have him call Main Event and 205 Live for like two or three months before putting him on RAW.

He’s actually been pretty good for a first-time announcer.

I just don't think there should be first time announcers who aren't familiar with the sport calling RAW since it's one of the flagship shows for the biggest wrestling company in the world. Have him work on the smaller shows to get some practice first.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but they don't seem to know what to call the Viking Raiders finisher. It used to be called the Viking Experience. But it was called two different names four times on raw this week. Adnan Virk called it the Viking Express two times, but Corey Graves called it the Viking Experience two times.

I'm 100% sure that's on Virk rather than there being ambiguity

Have him work on the smaller shows to get some practice first. I'm of two minds on it. On one hand, I agree, some seasoning would be ideal, but on the other, upward mobility has never been a strongsuit of WWE's commentary, and besides, I think they honestly tend to take a "sink or swim" approach to commentators, deliberately putting them in difficult spots to try to test their limits. Maybe that helps people make leaps sometimes, but then you get stuff like mean-spirited ragging on various commentators that seems designed to humiliate or anger them, not make them evolve at the job. Like, it doesn't feel that long ago when the dynamic WWE seemed to be going for was: Byron: "We're going to see a historic main event tonight!" Corey: "It's too bad we can't see you killed in front of your gagged and bound family."

I think I figured it out. Virk is doing a Samoa Joe promo where he talks quietly THEN GETS REAL LOUD then goes back to quiet.
