Terrible news.
The only saving grace is that this is happening in his 60s rather than when he was a young man.

Man that sucks.
Has he done anything with wrestling since the WCW days? WWE may have brought him back for a cameo or something but I can’t remember.

That is really sad. That whole article almost read like an end of life obituary. Most news articles I read don't feature such in depth information.
I wonder how long he has been living with this, though I know the diagnosis was recent. Whatever was his last wrestling convention he seemed like he had lost too much weight in his face and that photo of him signing autograph he seems very slim.

As a wrestling fan and a die hard Chicago bears fan, this hits really hard.

Damn, so sad
For a man as vibrant as him and to basically have all his movement robbed from him has got to be sad for his family to see. He didn't get robbed of his physical prime but he is getting robbed of his golden years
Makes it even more sad thinking back on the 30 for 30 about the Bears and at the end talking about guys who didn't make it and preparations they have made when their body and mind fails them

Was it by any chance one held at the ECW Arena about 2-3 years ago? Think he was there, and I didn't recognize him either. So I didn't try to approach him as such :-(

I remember his face being very slimmed down and not like in a way where a heavy set person goes on a crash diet or does treadmill non stop. It was a little while ago so again I wonder if he had some problems and just didn't know it. I may be one of the rare fans who loved his WCW run. He wasn't gifted in wrestling and he didn't catch on real well during his time but he sure did enjoy being there.

Being the best at something <> how you are as a person. Yeah he wasn't the best wrestler, and his commentary was silly (but I like to look back on it in a MST3K-type way). But still doesn't make the news any easier to take.

I had a scare with a possible ALS diagnosis about a year and a half ago, and it scared the living shit out of me. Basically any muscle on my body would move on its own to the point of cramping. Thankfully, my neurologist figured it out and it turned out to be a fairly benign syndrome and not ALS. It's basically the worst diagnosis a human being can get. You'll spend the rest of your short life in pain and eventually be trapped inside your own body as it slowly shuts off. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Godspeed, Mongo. I know some people weren't big fans of him in ring or his personality, but everyone should be in his corner here because what he's gonna go through or is already going through is pure hell.

ALS is horrible. Hoping he doesn't have to suffer for too long. My thoughts are with Mongo's family.

That f***ing sucks.
I remember the 4 Horsemen DVD, and despite fans not liking Mongo in the Horsemen, Flair and Arn couldn't stop praising him. They loved him in the Horsemen.

If they had actually trained him instead of having him learn in the ring on TV and PPV, his run would've been more fondly remembered. This diagnosis sucks.
