I do worry that any union chat will just end up being dismissed as boy crying wolf empty talk the longer this thing keeps getting kicked down the road without anything actually happening. Unfortunately, there's never going to be a union in wrestling. Maybe it could have happened in the 80s as Jesse Ventura attempted, but Hogan snitched. Even if Hogan wasn't around, it would have been somebody else.

Guess those talks with the Screen Actors Guild went nowhere.

I hope she got actual concessions.
It's her life, her career, and she owes nobody anything, but I just hope she has integrity. I think it's kind of sad that's being presented as comical. Not other people wishing she has it, since again, she owes no one anything, but the sheer concept of anyone having it.

She deleted the tweet about supporting unionization. I get going back for the money & exposure, not going to judge anyone for that. But that is absolutely a cowards move.

Even if Hogan wasn't around, it would have been somebody else. It'd be such a good thing for pro wrestlers to have. But it's like herding cats. Those that fought like hell to get a bigger piece of the pie will always pull up the ladder.

There are people who do want unions and better lives for all. But wrestling, at the end of the day, is a self serving business. If you can screw another person for an extra dollar, you'll do it. As long as that's the mindset, unionization will just be empty nothing's unless someone legitimately goes and does it.

The reality is that literally no company has seriously discussed a union and principles don’t pay the bills. If you wanna be a weirdo about it and call somebody a coward for expressing a view that effectively would have her blackballed from the industry and NOT tolerating the insane blowback from all corners, I really don’t know what to tell you.

I was going to write a post but this basically summarized what I was going to say pretty well.

I'm not gonna claim I was some gigantic Zelina mark before this (despite acknowledging her obvious talent as a manager) but I certainly didn't think she'd reveal herself to be a total coward like this, goddamn.

I was going to write a post but this basically summarized what I was going to say pretty well. Or she explored that avenue, learned more about it and realized either a- it’s not going to happen or b- she doesn’t really want unionization after all. I think it’s a large leap to say she’s putting her beliefs to the side when we don’t know how much she even knew about unionization when she made that tweet (which was done in the heat of the moment) and we don’t know how much she explored those beliefs and maybe changed those beliefs after looking into it more.

Regardless of what people think about her going back, for the love of God can we not use the "gotta pay the bills" line? You don't need to be pulling in 6 figures to keep the gas and electric on, and it just seems like kind of a gross slap to the face of people who legitimately struggle. Maybe that's a stretch on my part, but damn does it irk me. I don’t know where you live or how many people you need to financially support, but a lot of people very much need a 6 figure salary to pay the bills. That’s a pretty large generalization you’re making there. And it’s also different for someone in the wrestling/entertainment industry because you usually have limited years in the business to pretty much make as much as you can and save it well so that when you’re in your 50s and 60s and not able to wrestle anymore you don’t go broke.

Even if Vega herself stops pursuing the matter, surely what’s-her-name from Beverly Hills 90210 that leads Screen Actors Guild would still be looking into it. Or was that a bunch of lip service on their behalf too, like that one Senator?

I’m not going to judge her decision to go back. People need to make a living. Good on her and I hope she’s happy with her decision.

I mean…she’s not going to say anything about it so that all seems redundant to me. Until she’s away from WWE again, which could be years, I see it as another opportunity to actually benefit the industry in some way going down the drain again and honestly, nothing will likely ever change on that front because of it.

I trust Zelina did her reasearch and really did make some attempt at trying to get a Union in wrestling going but she was up against the deck IMO because there was no way in hell she was getting the likes of Roman on her side for this which are the names you would need to really get such a thing in motion at best.
So she clearly then did what was best for her and I cannot fault her for that.

maybe she saw a scary skeleton at the library when she was going to get a copy of Das Kapital out, and you can't really blame her, we don't know if that's true or not so we cant really argue or even post until we know every single avenue she explored in writing

Andrew Yang was a presidential candidate and not a Senator, he got too busy running his failed attempt to become the mayor of NYC. >_>

Sadly, who knows how sincere she was in her "pursuit" of unionization. It could have merely been a case of disgruntled fired employee talking down to former employer. Zelina isn't the first and won't be the last to change their tune. Many in the industry have done it.
