If Meltzer is going to be "cancelled," I'd rather it be for something that's deserved. This ain't it. The Bruce Mitchell thing followed by "Okay I'm sorry I did it, bUT A LOT OF PEOPLE TOLD ME THEY LOVED THE INTERVIEW"? Yeah, he deserved to be canceled over that. But this? Nah. This is just Zelina trying to get back in good graces. "I'm rehired? Time to put out the annual 'WWE Wrestler Subtweets/Tweets at Dave Meltzer quoting the Dave Meltzer Botches Twitter account' tweet". It's going to end up like last time, because of course it will it's WWE and they release people that are talented and have plans for all the time now, and we'll be back to square one. |

I don’t know why ANYONE hates Meltzer. Especially us fans who have no dog in the fight. Wrestlers seem to hate the guy a lot too considering it’d be pretty easy to ignore. Log off Twitter. Your life is actually good lol

No, cancel culture has become a term for any action taken online that attacks things one set of people doesnt like and another wants to defend, and in some cases goes to the extremes and sees unfair actions taken for minor things, which then brings disrepute on the things that legitimately need to be called out. You do realize all of this wasn't even the intention of the term "being cancelled" and that it was picked up by people without the best intentions to use it as an excuse to feel like they're being persecuted when in actuality, it doesn't affect anything of real note, right? Like, it's another term white people stole from black people and took all the real context from. I know I'm breaking my own rule with this post in this thread but honestly, we've had our arguments but you seem like a guy reasonable enough to not believe cancel culture is a thing. Cancel culture shouldnt be a thing, but the notion IS a thing now. The context may be totally stolen, and the original intention lost, but the people who did pick it up have shouted it loud enough that it's become a real thing that is believe by some people, on either side of societal or political spectrums, and therefore is imbued with a level of power and can, and has, been 'weaponised' because of that. The fact there are enough people that believe it is happening, and that some people recognise the influence they can wield doing it (rightly or wrongly, and it happens both ways) means we do now have a 'cancel culture', even if it's not what either side really want or think it is. |

I hope all these silly spats with female wrestlers gets Meltzer cancelled. Cancel culture can do something positive for a change by moving wrestling journalism away from that crank in his basement being the face of it. So, just to be clear, you believe that things like Vic Mignogna being ousted by victims of sexual assault and Gina Carano losing her job for hateful tweets to be nonsense, but *this* could be the one that makes a positive difference? |
