Maybe I'm a complete rube (and this company has burned me many times). But considering how each show in the Thunderdome (TM) is a commercial for the live shows, knowing how Bruce and Vince operate.
"GOD DAMN PAL, THE COMEBACK POP FOR CENA IS GONNA BE HUGE. THEN NEXT WEEK, WE ADVERTISE EDGE RETURNING FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE MANIA. THEN AT SUMMERSLAM, WE BRING BACK LESNARRR."
What say you? Is the product we're watching now pretty much, just filler?

Sure, if I thought they were capable of being surprising at all anymore.

I'm hoping they've got like a surprise return or two planned, maybe a surprise call-up planned and/or maybe even a surprise win planned but that's all it is. Hope. LOL.
Wait and see I guess.

I remember in 2012 I was wondering why the shows got super stagnant and assumed they were just holding everything back for Raw 1000. They weren't.
I also remember the Raw before the Stone Cold podcast with Vince ending with a repeat of the opening segment the week before, a big schmozz fight involving Big Show and the Authority. Vince on the podcast described the ending as like this groundbreaking super exciting thing he was so proud of despite it being literally just the same segment as the week before.
Basically saying they gotta earn my trust back on them being stagnant as a bigger event looms, the message I've gotten from WWE over the years is that they're not holding back, this is just the best they can/are willing to put together.

I expect the show to be exactly the same.

I mean, given the second show of their big comeback in front of a live crowd was a three hour long middle finger, I doubt it.

Not necessarily, but I do think they are shooting their Fiend Alexa Bliss magic wad right now, since they know they won't be able to do so much elaborate stuff on a live show with fans.

That’s what I’ve always thought. I’ve never bought the idea that WWE are going out of their way to make bad shows. I think they legit think that what they put out every week is gold. They’re just not good at it.

I figure that is the case with Brock. Plus they probably need that live gate to hopefully offset some of that cost. Him v Lashley at SummerSlam seems likely to me. Same for a Cena and Rock appearance.

Oh yeah, those first few live shows will be full of cameos and big star power.
I'd not be surprised if they dont try and get Rocky and Austin in as well.
Maybe even Undertaker at some point.
It'll be all hands on deck to get some energy in before they fall back to normal.

I think they're definitely holding off on Becky's return till one of the first 3 shows in front of a live crowd.

Yeah, this company is absolutely awful at planning things, but I do think they are intentionally milking the Bliss angle while it's still feasible. I am sure she'll still be around when the crowds come back, but it's obviously going to limit what they can do with her. Barring that, I don't really have much faith. Maybe Becky coming back, but that's one of the last silver bullets the company's got, so that's always a possibility.

WWE has Eva Marie, they don't need Becky Lynch anymore.

Do I think they've held back on surprises? No. Have I had a feeling that a lot of pieces of the shows (especially on Raw) have gone to a crawl because they want crowds there? Yes

The surprise of selling the company?
*everyone on stage with Vince*
"WE ARE LIVE AND WE ARE BACK!!! We want to thank you, the WWE Universe, without you we are nothing. There are going to be some changes. Tomorrow I am going to sign the company in its entirety over to Disney. Again thank you and ENJOY THE SHOW!"

Yeah, we're going to get a bunch of cameos, Cena, Lesnar, etc. I fully believe they're in neutral right now. I don't know that "drive" will be great, but that's my bet.

I’m not sure what else can be surprising. I mean WWEs idea of surprises is having an attitude era guy come in and beat up some of the current wrestlers to remind them they’re inferior but that’s it.
