While the penultimate seasons of 'The Office' (Season 8) and 'Kids in the Hall' (Season 4) are really bad, it's absolutely miraculous how they both managed to rally for a fantastic final season and come together to go off on a high note. I find this so interesting because for me it's the opposite, season 8 is great and season 9 is awful. Season 9 sucked out everything I liked about the show. I love Andy though so the ruination of his character in season 9 probably has a lot to do with that. Neither season is great to me, but 9 stands out as the attempts at making the show a bit harsher via the Pam/Jim drama and turning Andy into an asshole fall flat, with the latter committing the far worse sin of not being all that funny. It sticks the landing with the series finale but jumping from the end of season 8 (or even 7) to the final episode feels far more tempting in a rewatch rather than going through 9 again.

See, I thought season 8 ruined Andy, and season 9 restored that the rest of the Office know he's a dick. I greatly prefer Andy as an antagonist. Also, I hated Robert California and Nellie, so outside Gabe and the new guy in the warehouse, season 8 is unwatchable to me.
