One thing that bothered me with SYM (which I had fun with otherwise): What was with the Hardys, Tajiri, and Orton having modified versions of their themes? Hell, Maven just uses the SmackDown theme despite the fact that his actual theme is in the data. Related note, the hell with Flair using the Evolution theme in HCTP? ... And for that matter not that I'd call it a good game but Batista using it in SmackDown vs. Raw?

They didn't have the rights to his old theme plus at the time Flair was using Evolutions theme for the most part

I did like that Shut Your Mouth has some bonus alternate themes included. You could give Austin his Disturbed theme instead of slower Invasion heel theme. I wanna say Hogan was in the game too and came out to the nWo theme but you could also switch it to Real American.

I could be remembering wrong, but I think WM18 on Gamecube was odd in that Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy had, rather than their actual theme, an instrumental version of Matt's solo theme before he ever used it on TV. No tornadoes were slayed yet.
Also interesting was that I think it might be the only game where Undertaker has the "Taking Care Of Business" dragon sleeper as one of his finishers, but I could be wrong on that.

I believe he had it in 19 as his rear finish as well.

Speaking of WrestleMania 19, it's not a great game but there is a pretty undeniable appeal in how damn stupid its single player and side modes are.

Honestly its single player mode is effectively a 3D version of WWF Betrayal and I f*** with it so hard. Just beating the shit out of construction workers and other people for not really any good reason. It's a load of fun. Honestly I also think the gameplay is pretty fun. It's not a classic but I did enjoy it for what it was.

Royal Rumble on the Dreamcast is pretty ridiculous, but it still probably was one of the more faithful presentations of the RR match concept. Which I guess it ought to be, it's not like the game had much of anything else going for it.

I said this in the 2K20 thread, at least WM21 had versions of the IWGP and ROH World titles in their Create A Title, and there was a HS gymnasium you could wrestle in, something that WWE was always missing (a purely indy arena). That's pretty much the positives of that game.

It seems like it's basically the Smackdown 1/2 engine but with a more proper Royal Rumble structure with stronger hardware, which means it's probably fun as hell. Maybe I'll play it someday.

Pretty much, but one of the more glaring limitations is that it doesn't have a 30 man roster, so you get Rumble matches where you guaranteed at least some duplicates, potentially at the same time. But 9 models on screen at once was unheard of for another couple years.

See, as I was typing that comment I almost wrote “Hogan came out to voodoo chile,” but then my brain went “there’s no f***ing way they paid for voodoo chile for a Smackdown game; it had to be something else.” Turns out they did. Who knew. I don’t think I’ve played Shut Your Mouth since 2003, so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

One thing that bothered me with SYM (which I had fun with otherwise): What was with the Hardys, Tajiri, and Orton having modified versions of their themes? All three of their real themes they were using at the time are production library tracks so probably some licensing issue for that particular game. Happened with Booker T’s Rap Sheet theme on certain video games and DVDs too.

HCTP has my love forever but CAWs in that game looked ridiculous next to actual wrestler models. Like when Bobby Roode was stood in front of Triple H that one Survivor Series match and looked like his mini me double.
SVR08's "featuring ECW" elements were all really cool, it's a shame that the rest of the game was what it was.

Also I adore Wrestle Kingdom II but whoever decided on pressing 2 or 3 face buttons down at once to do a finisher is legit evil. My hand would be hurting for days after playing that game.

SD Just Bring It is pretty lackluster but i found some of the menu music to be very soothing and entrancing.

One thing that bothered me with SYM (which I had fun with otherwise): What was with the Hardys, Tajiri, and Orton having modified versions of their themes? And that Hardys theme is the absolute dirt worst. They took all the energy out of it. Matt Hardys Crush Hour theme should have been used instead
