I look forward to reminding my family that this was directed by the same person who did the Mao short and have them tell me how disturbing that was even though it’s very much not.
Movie looks fun, though. And hey, set in Toronto which is nice.

On the one hand, it must suck for the animators of this to have a project debut on streaming considering the reports especially of Pixar staff feeling like being put on Disney+ is a demotion and I can’t imagine that changes here.
On the other…cases are getting pretty bad globally, especially in America, and events are being cancelled left, right and Centre so I’d be shocked if this was the only film moved to streaming.

I get why Disney is doing this.
But this makes the third Pixar film to not release in theaters. The others being Soul and Luca. Fourth is you want to count Onward, since it's run got cut short as it was right at the start of the pandemic.
Moral can't be high at Pixar right now.

They can rest easy knowing Buzz Lightyear is gonna make a killing in theaters this summer.

Cynic in me also says if there was a Pixar movie that did as well as No Way Home, things would be different.

Curious if anyone's watched this or not. Just turned it on myself mooostly motivated by seeing reviews be almost uniformly positive while the RT audience score is much lower from people whining about the movie being too progressive or whatever.
Only a few minutes in but so far think it's pretty funny.

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm all for Pixar doing more recent period pieces. It's hard to believe that Turning Red takes place in a post-Attack of the Clones world.

Just finished and yeah, really enjoyed it. Think the climax kind of drags a bit, and you can definitely see the fingerprints of the whole Disney wouldn't let them go gayer with it thing because there are a few facets of it that feel like they want to go much further than they do, but still a pretty fun movie, would recommend it.

There was a scene early in the movie that reminded of the ending of a Married With Children episode "Teacher's Pet".

Yeah it was a lot fun. Really enjoyed it.
They are totally making films to fit into the Pixar theory at this point.

I watched it yesterday and really enjoyed it. I think it's one of the more accurate portrayals of what it's like to be a 13-year-old girl, although I could have lived without the reminder, lol.

I thought it was a delightful little movie, although mildly disappointed that it taking place in Canada has exactly nothing to do with the movie. You could’ve had the movie set anywhere in North America and it wouldn’t have changed the story. Also, catches a guy off guard seeing so many maxi pad jokes in a Disney movie
Sidenote, the Canadian money they showed her collecting had been out for like 2 weeks at that point in time. No way would everyone have had those new style bills already. I collect Canadian bank notes, so something so trivial really stood out to me haha

The one guy the main character kinda has a crush on works at a Daisy Mart, which is an actual convenience store chain in Canada. Also, I love that the two red panda statues at the temple are affectionately nicknamed "Bart" and "Lisa".
