Tried to reserve one and apparently my account is too new despite the fact I've had it for years and years, just rarely use it lmao. Whatever

I’m very very tempted to preorder but willing myself to hold off. I need to get my Bethesda Machine (XBX) before any other console purchases.

I decided to preorder the mid range model, not like I can’t cancel it later down the line. Whether or not this will have a huge enough audience, it definitely appeals to what I’ve been wanting in a secondary system to my PS5, something that’s; (hopefully) better made than a Switch, playable in bed, and can be used as an emulator and to maybe play the occasional Microsoft exclusive.

I think this has the potential to be cool, and I am allowing myself to get a bit more excited by it, but I do have to laugh when people say Nintendo "should have done this all along."
Like, imagine back when the Switch was announced. In what world would a device this huge at a similar price point to PS4 not get laughed out of the building?

The biggest drawback to this for me is that... it's Valve.
They have an AWFUL track record with hardware... not to mention steam itself is overloaded with crap...
the only thing they have that they still support is the Vive, and even then they put out one game for it... and then went back to ignoring it... and from what I have heard from people that have it the customer support for it is pretty awful.
The Steam Link, Steam Controller, and Steam Boxes all were barely supported by Valve when they existed... and then were almost immediately then discontinued and no longer supported when they realized they had to actually put effort in to maintain them...
I have a feeling that this is going to go exactly like the Steam Box before it, where it gets hyped on release it doesn't work nearly as well as advertised... and then Valve quietly drops them.

I think it is at least a little promising they're going to have dev kits for this so people can make games specifically with these in mind, or to try to optimize their existing games for it. That's at least more forward thinking than they could have been. That said, yeah, I'm still cautious about it.

The Steam Boxes were just Alienware hardware with a Valve logo and of course Alienware price The Steam Controller is praised as one of the best controllers ever Steam Link is great even if you can do the same with the app The Index is one of the best VR solutions They have a good track record when they are the ones handling the hardware instead of 3rd party

Like a Switch, only big budget games bought at the tail end of it's lifespan are unlikely to work particularly well, if at all. Sounds good.

So during their Q1 earnings call, Ubisoft said they’ll put their games on the Steam Deck “if it’s big enough”.
Bitch, you’ve had your games on OnLive, Stadia and Amazon Fire, you have no right to be picky now.

Ubisoft comes off like they think the Steamdeck is its own platform instead of a mini-portable PC.

Yeah like, you can literally install Windows and then install Ubisoft's game launcher and play games. Kind of a stupid comment on their part.

I’ve used mine daily for months now. Absolutely love it and that’s as someone with a 3080ti. More than worth it.

I don't. But I know a couple of people who do and they love it.

You were supposed to say 'no, it is terrible' so I dont spend money on one! The good news is that even if you want one, you probably won't be able to get one because of high demand!
