This skit is awesome for no other reason then it absolutely looks like it could take place in the same universe as the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie. I'd honestly wouldn't mind playing a Mario stage(or game even) with the cyberpunk aesthetics of that movie. |

I'd honestly wouldn't mind playing a Mario stage(or game even) with the cyberpunk aesthetics of that movie. Were it not more related to Square-Enix than Nintendo, I would say make a Smithy's Factory (Super Mario RPG) stage that has a similar vibe to it. |

I'm definitely getting the impression that this is going to be a movie with a ton of really fun Easter eggs to watch out for but with a wildly uninteresting script surrounding it. Which hey, you could argue the same thing about Detective Pikachu and I kind of love that movie so if it works it works, though probably going to wait to watch this on Peacock and only if word of mouth's alright.
