So no Wario or even Wart? Aside from being mentioned in a Paper Mario game and a cameo in a Smash Bros. Wart has been MIA since SMB2, so he'd be a really strange choice to appear. Well, he was in "The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening" too. |

At least James Corden isn't here yet. Hilariously, the number of people expressing this very sentiment has gotten Corden trending on Twitter. To be fair he also pissed off K-Pop twitter so that's probably more why. |

Besides Jack Black, this cast looks like a train wreck. What kind of voice is Mario gonna have? Cause can Chris Pratt even do an Italian or Brooklyn accent?

Besides Jack Black, this cast looks like a train wreck. What kind of voice is Mario gonna have? Cause can Chris Pratt even do an Italian or Brooklyn accent? While it would be weird not to hear the Martinet Mario voice after 25 years of it, I would find it interesting if Pratt took cues from Captain Lou's Mario. |

Still runs into the same big budget animation problem where the voice actors are all celebrities instead of actual voice actors They have to save something for the sequel. Corden can voice one of the seven Koopalings along with Terry Crews, Anna Kendrick, John Cena, Tiffany Haddish, Akwafina and Lil Nas X. (As for whom will play whom I'll leave that up to your imagination.) |

So now that I've thought of it there's a couple of castings that I feel were cast for the wrong character. Jack Black feels like he should be Mario instead of Bowser, Kevin Michael Richardson feels like he should be Bowser instead of Kamek and Charlie Day should have been Toad instead of Luigi.
They're the three that kinda stand out to me

I fully admit I burst out laughing at the idea of Charlie Day as Luigi, and I mean that in a good way. He'll finally get to find out what this place's spaghetti policy is.
I did also wonder for a second if Charlie made more sense as Toad, but I think they know what they're doing with Key being on that.
That said, I'm always partial to the brothers sounding like Brooklyn transplants; we obviously don't know what the plot is for this yet, but having Mario and Luigi start as two guys making a living in New York City and getting sent to the Mushroom Kingdom allows for a much simpler and more relatable fish out of water story. Obviously the games don't deal with that and I understand why that backstory can be seen as kind of limiting and not as relatable for non-Americans, but hey, it's what I grew up with, can't help myself.
