Eh, I guess you could have mentioned the album is called Virgin Killer, but it’s a real thing that exists. I could have but that made it too easy to find and I'm sure the majority of people who saw it wished they hadn't. The naked baby in the Don’t Cry video should sue next.

I definitely think he's gone about it the wrong way but it is weird to be photographed as a baby, your parents get a small fee, and all these other people have made a shit ton of money off of your image.
I do like the NY Post having a story about it titled, "Nirvana Child portrait of our victim culture" when they're selling a story about the image, making money off of it. As if this giant newspaper gives one f*** about anything but money.

He'd have a better argument if he stopped taking money and promotional shots re-enacting the cover after he became an adult (I can excuse when he was still a minor since he still really wouldn't know better). The fact he did it again as recently as 2016 (not to mention getting a tattoo on his chest with the album name on it) makes it really hard to argue that this doesn't come off as much more than ambulance chasing to be honest.

Sure and I'm not saying he's not. But, a cheap t-shirt company could potentially make more money on an image of the guy that they don't have any copyright on and that's weird.

I love Nirvana and everything, but for a band who are often vaunted as having been about the rejection of corporatism in pop music their existence has been pivotal in a hell of a lot of money grubbing over the past few decades.

Cobain was wishy-washy about that and was actually quite a dick when it came to songwriting rights. But then, at 27, it's not like he should have had life figured out with a neat little bow.

Yeah, it has to be said the romantic image people have of them is quite different from the reality. Grunge in general was a bit contradictory, it's credited with destroying hair metal but really all the musicians fell victim to the same excess as those bands and burnt themselves out in pretty much the same way, on ego and heroin. And grunge as a "countercultural" concept was pretty much cooked up by industry suits anyway.
Not really sure where I'm going with this. This whole thing is all very silly.

In "The Dirt", Nikki Sixx is talking about writing the Motley Crue album and his challenges, he says, "Since our last album, not only had grunge hit the scene, it was gone"

I mean if I had any connection to Dave Grohl and he didn't want to be friends with me, I'd go insane too.

With that hot chick comment, maybe Bill Maher was right, maybe he still is recognizable from that picture.

"I can't use this as leverage to get women to sleep with me" is certainly an argument he could choose to make 😐

Gonna play devil's advocate here...
Is it a cash grab? Obviously.
But Nirvana have made MILLIONS off this album. He should be entitled to Royalties as its literally him on the cover.
Personally I hate seeing big corporations and rich people always get what they want so I hope he wins and spends his money wisely.

Personally I hate seeing big corporations and rich people always get what they want so I hope he wins and spends his money wisely. If he was just after royalties, then I could see his point--if that's how things work (I have no idea if people on album covers get a one off payment or royalties or what. I'd have assumed it's just a one off payment). But claiming it's child pornography is ridiculous, embarrassing and a slap in the face to every kid who HAS been the subject of actual child pornography.
