I just... Like, I'm certainly looking forward to their matches. But wow does shit like this come off as dorky. I mean, if they're LITERALLY the devil and the grim reaper, fine, I can get behind that. But if they're not, then they're just dudes wearing plastic skull masks who spout semi-gibberish about the devil and death, because question mark.

Pleased this has moved along at last, the past couple of lights out/transportation segments were just getting cringeworthy and I think they may have effected the crowd reaction to this segment.
Also Excalibur just knowing the name of the team when they've never existed before (as far as AEW fans like me are aware) got a bit of an eye roll. It was the same when Butcher/Blade/Bunny debuted.
I've never seen Brodie King's work but I've heard good things so looking forward to seeing what he can do. That finisher looked cool but a little too dangerous, if Malakai doesn't get the right lift on the guy he's throwing to Brodie then he's landing on the top of his head.

The crowd was chanting "Brody!" pretty blatantly before the lights even went out, maybe they should have did it last week, but I thought the setup was cool and Julia stopping them is a great planted seed As for Excalibur knowing their tag name? I'm giving him a bit of a pass here, they're the tag team champions of his home promotion in PWG and he has already made it know he has extensively followed Malakai's career, wasn't really on the level of "THAT'S THE BLADE, THE BLADE" or Dark Order's initial debut to me. They'll have more than one tag finisher I also assume, most AEW Tag teams do, not even sure that's their finish or just a cool double team to pop the crowd, but they're good at the whole tag team thing so I trust em.

But Brody's not even really done up like Black which I think makes Black stand out more? Also I don't think they're literally meant to be taken as the devil and the grim reaper, like... it's an expression. Black's quoted quite a few different things for this gimmick and he's still pushing that here The whole thing House of Black has pushed is mystery and almost corruption. Malakai pushed it with Cody, he is pushing it here with Julia and the Blondes, with PAC, and he pushed it in the vignette with Brody. Malakai making references in his gear to certain things like Witchers and dark magic occult to me make it stand out much more than how you put it, but I guess we'll see how they continue to play it out.

It's just quoting scripture to push the narrative Any Black promo I've heard so far has been way more straight forward and blunt about his intentions, he comes off pretty damn intimidating as far as I've ever seen, I don't know what about it screams pompous, especially when it's compared to Rosemary of all things. I love Rosemary, but she is WAY more extra than black when it comes to her gimmick. I also find her speech pattern and use of third person to be much different than Malakai but I guess that's just me.

They were going to close last weeks show with Brody debut, but because Fenix got hurt then they filled in the last 2-3 mins of the show with PnP, Jericho, Malakai reactions.

If that's the case yeah it makes sense because you'd have them confronting the tag champs and Luchs Bros and making an immediate statement Won't hurt to wipe out The Blondes though, if that's what the plan is. We know a third is planned, whether that's a woman or not remains to be seen though.

Really looking forward to seeing these two together. As a big Malakai fan, I'm glad to see him finally doing something interesting again.

As a fan of hardcore/metalcore I was already stoked to see Every Time I Die represented in the company.
Now we’re adding God’s Hate.
I’m super down for all of this.

If Julia was a real worker, she'd get a bunch of tattoos for the gimmick change.

The team existed in PWG and Excalibur is one of the founders of PWG, so he's going to know what was going on in his old promotion. Besides his shtick tends to be "guy who has his finger on the pulse of indy wrestling" and even namedropped ROH here. This isn't like WWE where they exist in some bubble that doesn't acknowledge other promotions exist unless they have to.

Like, it’d be weird if he didn’t know who Brody King was.

Hype about Brody King's debut. If this was WWE, they'd change his name. And if anything, I'd prefer AEW change his name just out of respect for Brodie Lee.
Anyway, this is fun. I hope the House of Black continues adding members because this is a PERFECT opportunity to add Buddy Matthews and give him a darker gimmick.

Selling Brody King as both a known and an unknown should be an easy task. "That is the man known as Brody King everywhere but AEW, and he obviously is about to change that." Let the rest be handled by promo work. Sadly, Excalibur falls back to his one voice selling surprise debuts. He should become more confident in his content, so he doesn't have to rely on his ... wavy delivery. Anyway, I like both guys a lot, their looks are a perfect match and it's natural to them. I'm just confused what/who they're aiming at.
