I've thought Strickland is a star-in-waiting for a minute, but what you highlighted doesn't exactly show Tony is serious about pushing him to the next level. I actually watched parts of that Rampage and saw the Swerve-Dustin match. Swerve lost by DQ when Dustin had him pinned and his partner pulled him out the ring. Then Keith Lee comes to the ring and disposes of both Swerve and the other guy. If you're serious about pushing the dude why have him take a DQ loss (that was to prevent a pin fall loss) to a guy who's on the high side of 50? That's not who I was talking about in this comment, I was talking about Dustin's match with Bishop Kaun, that's the match that was had with Dustin. Swerve wasn't the example here That segment with Swerve was before the Mogul Embassy refresh, which has done wonders for him and the Embassy, Trench and Parker just didn't work My bad. Totally missed that. I still see Wednesday's 3-way kinda the same way as the match Swerve had with Dustin a few months ago. He basically has to throw everything he has to win a triple threat match over two guys who are nowhere near upper-echelon and even the victory was just a roll-up over the job guy. Hopefully a win over Cassidy will be the start of a major run.

He came off a huge Battle Royal showing and Swerve trying to outthink him makes total sense, much like they did with the tag match where Orange and Darby had to throw everything at Toa to keep him down I do want Swerve to win this though, I think nows the time

Seems pretty clear they're not done with this I think Swerve wins and then he faces Darby for it, cause Orange is completely on fumes from a kayfabe standpoint and Swerve is furious.

yeah I was disappointed Swerve didn't win but they clearly are not done with Swerve vs OC. Curious how long they wait

Funny how we all went into tonight expecting it to be Swerve's crowning moment and not only did he lose but he didn't even get to stand tall as getting a revenge beatdown or something, being driven off by a 64 year old and the guy they probably want Swerve to feud with instead.

Everyone runs from Sting, it's Sting. This isn't something new to Swerve at all. And they beat Orange down pretty bad when he escaped with the win, so much so he couldn't even stand up when Darby and Sting were pumping up the crowd I don't think Swerve is going to feud with Sting, I think Cassidy vs Swerve gets run back, and Swerve wins.

OC did not need the win and it is not like Swerve has been really hot either
The title win imo should been a decisive W for Swerve with him finally getting the momentum he has been missing
The story has been OC has been running on fumes so they had it there to secure the W and didn't hit it

I genuinely hope you're right. I'm a bit worried that they're gonna assume a feud with Darby (someone they present as a main eventer) is a big enough deal for Swerve to move on from the title race. Either way think this was missing a chance to strike while the iron was hot.

They still have Orange involved so I'm feeling like it's just not over I feel like Swerve gets the pin in this match to set up a rematch, but we'll see.

I really just find Sting such an insufferable wet blanket of a character. I guess maybe it works if you're into nostalgia for him but as someone who isn't it's just been years on end of, "Old guy shambles to the ring at a quarter of the speed he used to move at, kicks everyone's ass, and never shows the slightest bit of vulnerability or makes anybody look even slightly good."

I don't agree that that's been Sting's run at all. I think Sting's run has been fantastic and an excellent use of him with his limitations. He hasn't really made it about himself, he constantly makes it about putting other people over and using his presence to help that, that's how it should be.

I love watching Sting because he’s one of my favorites and is entertaining, but he puts over Darby, not really his opponents unless I’m forgetting something.

He puts over people he wrestles with who then foil the heels. Orange was another, it's why he's been pretty much in Multi-Mans his entire run.

Glad he’s going heel again. The face run was a nice try but he ran out of steam, for whatever reason.

Him taking stuff like a powerbomb from Brian Cage comes to mind. He really doesn't have to do that kind of thing anymore, but he does because he does seem to really want to give out the same kind of good will he got when Flair, Arn, etc, were trying to get him over, when he was a guy with a good look, but precious little experience and rudimentary skills. Obviously, Brian Cage, among others, isn't that level of green, but you get the idea in any case, even if Darby is obviously his number one project.

Glad he’s going heel again. The face run was a nice try but he ran out of steam, for whatever reason. I think immediately throwing him at MJF was a mistake. Like, they did well together, but it was too soon, and there was really nowhere to go from that that wasn't going to feel like an afterthought.

First dude to pin CM Punk on his return
No matter how you slice it, that's a big deal, and he won a tournament in the process that's also a big deal
Hoping if he's going heel he kills it.

It only remains a big deal if the follow up is good otherwise it is an empty accomplishment We shall see tho. Punk likes him which will stand for something
