In my honest opinion, Bret Hart versus Kurt Angle was the dream match we never saw. Every wrestling fan talks about The Undertaker versus Sting dream match but I believe Hart vs Angle would’ve been a match for the ages. Both were technically gifted wrestlers of their generations and masters of the squared circle. The Sharpshooter vs The Ankle Lock. These two in their primes going against each other would’ve been dynamite. A missed opportunity. Sadly it never happened due to Bret’s concussion in 1999 and stroke in 2002. It’s a case of what could’ve been.

Eddie Guerrero vs. HBK is mine
Rock vs HBK could have been a huge match too but I think there was some bad blood there between them

Only issue might be if Angle went a bit too spotty for his own good but I imagine Bret could reel him in. Them just doing matwork and strikes for most of the match would be fantastic.

I think it'd be a fascinating match. Bret seems like the kind of guy who would tell the story that he couldn't outwork or outwrestle an olympic gold medalist in wrestling, so it would be fun to see Bret resort to more of a brawling style

Bret v Orton is mine, but Bret v Kurt is a close second. I wonder though are Bret and Kurt too similar in style?

Angle is arguably the greatest prodigy in the history of wrestling: for better or worse, he just seemed to absorb everything from everyone around him in record time, going from an amateur/novice to incredibly skilled at an unbelievable pace. I think the one thing he really missed was working with someone like Bret, who could have gifted him with the technical, storytelling skills where Bret remains peerless and maybe could have curbed some of the Big Spot mentality that wrecked Kurt's body as his career went on.
One of my favorite "minor" feuds was Angle vs. Rey, where they had a series of matches and in each match, you'd see that Angle learned something from Rey's skillset or style that he'd be ready for next time. Bret vs. Austin at Survivor Series and then at Wrestlemania had that, too. A Bret/Angle series where Kurt has this unlimited upside, so Bret has to keep trying to stay ahead of him as the ultimate ring general with knowledge and strategy that never would have come up in Olympic wrestling would have ruled.
Right up there with Bret/Angle for me would have been Bret vs. Eddie. As workers I think they would have gelled, and as storytellers...I just keep thinking of Eddie constantly cheating in new and different ways to infuriate Bret, but Bret also having that mean streak and eventually fighting fire with fire, ending with two technically brilliant guys just inventing new ways to cheat and annoy each other.

I can see Kurt annoying Bret, then Bret socks him or does a nasty Dungeon hold to slow his ass down. The problem is what match I want them to face in: 2 out of 3 Falls or Submission?

It's my number 1 dream match.
But Eddie vs Bret is a match I never knew I wanted until I thought about it.
Bret vs Kane would've been interesting too.

What's crazy to think is that there was a 2-month window at the end of 99 where they were both active wrestlers. Bret vs Kane would've been interesting too. Not technically Kane, but...

Kurt Angle vs. Daniel Bryan. On the same roster for a year as well. Bryan was on smackdown mainly and busy at mania 35 but wish Angle had held off his retirement until summerslam of that year so we could see if Bryan could help a past it Angle turn back the clock for one night.

Damn, that is really cool, and I wish I could have seen those matches. They did something similar on a much smaller scale with the Undertaker v Batista matches, where each match one would try the first move from the previous match, and their opponent would remember and counter it. As for my dream match, I'd take Kurt Angle vs Ken Shamrock, even though I slightly worry that they would feed off each other's intensity and go crazy.

I would have much rather Kurt Angle vs CM Punk over Bryan.

They say if Bret had faced El Dandy in the main event of a PPV with the US Title on the line, WCW would still be in business today

Yes please.
In failing that, Bret v AJ Styles would be a decent substitute.

Bret vs. pretty much everyone on the roster (even Shanky) is a dream match for me. I'd love to see him vs. a motivated Brock
