Aw man, not Avalon. Although he's probably on a Pay-Per-Appearance deal. (PPA on a PPA deal, geddit?) I hope he shows up still, Avalon vs Cutler is still my favourite feud in AEW, and the blow-off match is still one of my favourite matches. Avalon was one of the ones I predicted along with possibly Jack Evans, Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela. I doubt Brian Cage will be renewed. The Women should be fine, even Leva Bates and Rebel has backstage roles

I think it feels incredibly damning that my primary response to this Cody news is, "Eh." I assume he'll stick around but even if he doesn't it kind of feels like a no skin off my bones thing, which sucks since Cody's been one of my favorites for a looong time but the last couple years he's just been so damn dull. It was a combination of things that likely soured many fans on Cody: -The self-imposed stipulation where Cody couldn't challenge for the AEW World title again after losing to Jericho has limited Cody's storyline options. -The neck tattoo. -Over-the-top presentation for someone that's supposed to be a face. He has a long, dramatic entrance even for minor matches/segments, a "coach", and is sometimes accompanied by his hot wife and Nightmare Factory entourage. -Most of Cody's feuds start because a friend of his betrayed him. -That Cody/Ogogo feud. -The holding pattern with Cody's character turning heel that's been going on forever.

I fully realise I'm in the minority on that, but it is what it is.

I doubt Avalon, Janela, Kiss etc have burned any bridges with TK and are on good terms so we'll probably still be seeing them on Dark

His last match appears to be Tuesday's Dark There is literally no source to any of this. Avalon's probably just not on a full time contract anymore. Not that he'd never show up again. You are correct, there no sources. Leva Bates herself says he is still there. I would also add that he says in his tweet AEW original. So he was not written off, his last match is not Dark on Tuesday, and people who are Peter Avalon fans can celebrate AEW still having an original.

This is what irks me about the situation, it's no disrespect to mark or chrom, but they have a tendency to immediately jump to a conclusion with no cconcrete evidence and this is one of those times. Nothing said Peter was done, just opening up more dates Probably smart to give a full time contract to someone else, doesn't mean Peter still won't be used and can't be, but he's never been a huge priority, but he makes the WIngmen what they are, so he has a purpose

I also think it's important to note that someone not being renewed does not automatically imply they won't be seen again. There's no inherent reason they couldn't bring you in on a PPA type deal. For Swole, yes. That was a hard separation. But it doesn't have to be, And I imagine the rest of Avalon's group is on a lower tier contract. I'm glad he's still there but even if his full time contract ends, there's no reason he can't take AEW dates when he's free.

There are people who want to see bad things happen in AEW, but one of them won't be Peter's last match on Tuesday. Also on Cody, he's literally on Dynamite tonight, and this has been tweeted by AEW and posted on Facebook in the the last few hours. So unless he's showing up tonight to quit Go Big Show, Rhodes to the Top, tell his AEW executive wife Brandi and top women's trainer brother Dustin, his entire AEW Outreach team, and Negative 1 that he's leaving to go to WWE, I can imagine it's for storyline purposes. But its a crazy world.

If Avalon will stay with a PPA deal then its fine, I assume that will be the same with Janela, Sonny, Marko(if he doesnt leave wrestling) ,etc.

I see Cody’s deal angle as the loophole they’re going to use to get around the title stipulation.

I see Cody’s deal angle as the loophole they’re going to use to get around the title stipulation. The thing about that is the stipulation wasn’t a contract thing, it was his word. I don’t think he would need a new contract to break the stipulation. And if breaking the stipulation is what gets us the heel turn, then I’m all for it.

The Women should be fine, even Leva Bates and Rebel has backstage roles Funny thing is that Rebel started off in a purely backstage role as a makeup artist. Then I guess people enjoyed her "Reba" role in the backstage skits with Britt Baker that she transitioned to an on-stage role, too. And while she shouldn't be in a ring unless it's to do the job, she's good in her role as a stooge.

The fact Dave doesn't have an avatar set on the forums of his own website where people pay to hear what he has to say is the most Dave Meltzer thing

The primary opinion I have on Avalon is that the one time I heard him on commentary on Dark he was really damn bad.

For what it's worth, Leva streamed on Twitch last night and she reiterated that PPA isn't going anywhere, he's just taking more outside bookings.

It's insane the amount of folk online that are getting worked by this. They wouldn't have had him win back the TNT title on Christmas day if their was an even 1% chance that he was leaving. This is no doubt to complete the heel turn and challenge Hangman Page for the title I certainly don’t think Cody is leaving, but I also don’t think him popping up somewhere for a one off is out of the realm of possibility.

I guess he could show up somewhere, but there's zero chance of him showing up in WWE. There's no way TK will agree to seeing his TNT champion eliminated in the Royal Rumble by tozawa after 30 seconds
