Rumors on twitter are that Stu was offered a role as a main trainer at C4 in Canada... also most of Stu's external bookings are up north so that may have caused a bit of a headache as well
Dunno if true or not, but sounds like any split is amicable or that Stu may just move to a PPA deal

It’ll bum me out if Stu goes. The people being dropped bum me out. I initially was excited for AEW to see guys like Stu or Jack Evans on a big stage. I 1000% get bringing in guys like Danielson and Sting, it’d be stupid not too. It’s just not really as exciting for me. They’re great and having phenomenal runs, but I want room for the Chuck Taylors and Sonny Kiss’s of the world too. I said it a while back in another thread, but part of the initial appeal of AEW for me was watching wrestlers who I'd only seen on the indies finally get a shot on national TV. Anthony Bowens, Max Caster, Private Party, Alex Reynolds, Kris Statlander - going from watching them in a rec center in Rahway to watching them on TNT in primetime was so, so cool. AEW shifting from "a collection of top indie stars and relatively unknown developing prospects" to "a collection of top stars from all around the world" is an understandable move but it feels like a bit of the company's soul has been lost in the transition.

I like Stu, he's a good wrestler but he just got lost in the shuffle of AEW. Honestly, I don't think being in the Dark Order did him any favors in the long run, either. The DO has so many members with really strong personalities and as good as Stu is as a wrestler, he always got a little lost in the big DO skits next to the forces of nature that are some of the other members.

Honestly the AEW tag title history is depressing as hell knowing the Dark Order never sniffed the belts despite how good they are, but SCU and FTR got dull as hell reigns and the Young Bucks held them for frankly too long.

As sad as losing Stu would be. I don’t know if Stu really has the personality that really stood out to me. He’s a fantastic wrestler, but AEW is pretty much all fantastic wrestlers.

Dunno why Stu never got the Uno/Dax/Trent/Caster 'tag guy who has plenty of singles matches too' opportunity...every time he got a chance to shine in the ring he took it and the crowd ate it up. If he is moving to just PPA and significantly fewer matches and appearances with the company that's a real shame. There was a period last year where I genuinely thought Uno & Stu were gonna take the tag titles from the Bucks...then they got squashed by the Good Brothers instead. In hindsight the Bucks dropping the belts to the Dark Order for a week before winning them back would've been a really cool thing.

Strangely I think Tony Khan seeing how charismatic Jon Silver was on BTE is what hurt the Stu/Uno team long term. Cause once Tony saw that he told Silver to start showing that charisma on Dynamite, he started getting over as Johnny Hungie, and very quickly he and Reynolds became the top team on Dark Order.

Idk about that, the crowds always seemed very into Grayson when he got going. Dude was crazy good in ring. I don't know why he wasn't given more singles matches. Like notably he was like the one member of Dark Order Danielson didn't fight, and it annoyed me greatly because Stu's so damn good, how do you NOT do that match? Maybe they were having disputes as early as then who knows. I really want them to agree to a new deal. I hope Khan at least sees that Stu himself trended off this and I don't think any other expiring contract wrestler trended like that. There's a lot of love for Stu and for Dark Order to remain intact.

I’ll never forget the straight month where JR kept saying “Stu ‘Don’t call me Dick’ Grayson”

I've tried half-heartedly to make it a meme or a catchphrase around here, and I don't think there's a better time to say it: Stu Grayson's great, why are we not talking about that guy all the time?
But really and truly, Stu Grayson was a revelation of a wrestler when AEW started up, and it was depressing how after a few seeming brushes with a push, he just fell all the way to the wayside despite being an amazing talent. Hell, the guy should get a lot of credit just for how much he's gotten Anna Jay over with the BTE viewers.
AEW is so stacked with quality wrestlers that it's not hard to see how someone as good as Stu is relegated to doing multiman webshow matches that pop the crowd like woah. I think a lot of the teams that AEW have pushed harder than Dark Order (Acclaimed, Team Taz, House of Black, reDragon, FTR) are good choices. But man, Stu is still special enough that I've always wanted more of a place for him.

Yeah, like, I can understand the reason why someone like him isn't seen in the same priority in the company (and get Stu's reasons for asking for more, don't get me wrong) but it also did feel at points they were ready to do more with Stu and it didn't happen. Honestly, I know I'd be one of two but if you said Grayson/Sky was on Dynamite this week for the TNT belt, I'd watch instantly because those two have amazing chemistry from the even brief times they've been in the ring. In the wider contexts, the company will be fine but like you said, I don't see why there wouldn't be a place for the guy and I wish there was still that place.

It seems like Uno/Stu started at the same time so I presume Uno was able to agree on a deal and Stu couldn't. It will be interesting to see them go down different career paths now.

This is from Fightful Select. It could be like a Gulak situation where he's a free agent who eventually re-signs with the comapny.
"Talent that we've spoken to say that All Elite Wrestling had offered a new deal and wanted to retain Grayson, but that terms were not reached by May 1 and the deal expired. Those that we've spoken to don't believe that the door is closed on a potential return.
Grayson last wrestled at the April 27 tapings for AEW Dark Elevation, which aired May 2. He won a twelve man tag team match with his fellow Dark Order members."
