To be fair, the show's last season, which aired in 1997, didn't even resemble how the show looked in 1994, as the animation studio that made it in that fashion shut down before the show did.

This time is going to be like MOTU Revelations isn't it? Where people angry about other things claim they're not mad about girls and non white characters but people lied about this so they're right to be mad about girls and non white characters. I don't follow twitter and the social media bubble, but I have seen any real backlash about non white characters or girls here. The only backlash I've seen is because people decided the Brazilain voice actor for Roberto wasn't being black enough to voice Roberto, which led to the show creator leaving Twitter because of the harrassment because of it. comicbookmovie.com/x_men/x_men-97/x-men-97-head-writer-departs-twitter-following-backlash-over-sunspot-whitewashing-casting-a203547This seems to have slipped under the radar for the usual neckbeards who complain about female characeters and non-white characters who usually come crawling out of the woodwork for, say, Star Wars. I guess because the original X-Men cartoon had a lot of female characters and minority characters anyway. |

Yeah, the show looked like how ugly that Fantastic Four show got where everyone looked like they were droopy and about to melt into the ground. It was unbelievably ugly. Even if it looks like What If, that’ll be a vast improvement. |

It could even be modelled 3D but filmed/framed in 2D perspective, like how a lot of 2D Disney animations presently are produced.

So apparently this is not going be in the 2D style of the original but instead look like the WHAT IF series and be 3D. Well that is gonna take some wind out of the preverbial sails for me and others from some comments I have already seen. They had one job. |

I am in favour of the animation style change. Original X-Men cartoon just looks ugly and dated--if they tried to animate it that style, it would look pretty shit. And modern American 2D animation is, pretty awful.
Better to go the 3D route.

3D animation pretty much uniformly looks like ass compared to 2D but it's also generally cheaper so I get it.

Looks like they're still wearing the classic Jim Lee outfits, makes me wonder if any other characters who make guest appearances like Havok or Quicksilver (who were in the 1992 show too) will also have their designs from that era.
