This includes Oscar's Emmys and Grammys but I start with a VGA one I shouldn't be mad at but I am
So my BF grabbed Forza Horizon 5 day 1, paid full money for premium, and even as a chaotic racing fan I fall IN LOVE with it. The graphics, the missions, hearing my BF say it's an improvement from 4 and seeing others say how good it is, I thought it was a GOTY Lock....NOPE

The Oscars have so often awarded films that have done little for me that it's impossible for me to get angry about award nominations

The numerous award noms given to known scumbag Roman Polanski. There were no question marks about what sort of a person he is, Polanski fled and lives in exile rather than face justice.

The Razzles in general.
In theory, the antithesis to the Oscars should work. However, the low barrier to entry for voting, the smarmy attitude of the awards, and most notably, the types of films targeted defeat the intent. They don't go after genuinely baffling, poorly executed films (granted, usually with limited releases) but instead easy targets. Tyler Perry has been nominated how many times even though he never has won?
The year that did it was easily the year both a Twilight film and the Seltzerberg Twilight parody were nominated for Worst Picture and I figured out the agenda.

Never.
I don't give a shit about awards. Its just some other persons opinion on something artistic that actually can't be measured in a contest because its subjective.

The closest for me would be Matthew Stafford not being nominated for NFL MVP in 2011 despite throwing for over 5000 yds, and 41 TD's.

The 78th oscars in 2006 was the last time I gave a shit about them. (Leo winning was nice but..questionable for Revenant).
In a year where you have Capote, Good Night and Good Luck, Munich and Brokeback Mountain, you give it to Crash.

It’s hard for me to get angry at awards shows since, like, there’s a lot of politics to it and campaigns and all that stuff and it’s beyond anyone’s control unless we get in the committees and such.
Razzie award nominations, though? Man, they always feel like a waste of actually doing a parody of an award show by actually having bad movies.
Oh look at you being rebellious and nominating Cats for worst picture! What a bold hot take of a pick!

I can only think one movie that annoyed me for a nomination. The Martian getting nominated for best film, comedy or musical, from the golden globes. Also Matt Damon was nominated for best actor, comedy or musical, for the movie too. They both won.
When I think of comedy, I think of the Martian, or maybe when I think of a musical I think of it

To put the VGA's in context, they're basically a giant commercial for the video game industry. They can be a fun watch, but combine that premise with awards being at least partially decided by popular vote, and the awards themselves are basically a complete joke in terms of meaning.
The BAFTA's awards for video games are probably the closest to judging video games based on artistic merit.

Taylor Swift.
Made me so mad I could storm the stage and give a long winded speech to interrupt her. I am glad no one's that crazy to try that.

Wrestling-related one involving a lack of nominations: Savage/Warrior from WM7 not even being nominated for PWI's Match of the Year in 1991.

The biggest venture of awards is making their subjects canonical. I like that idea, but: They've got a pretty bad track record. If I look through the Nobel Prizes in Literature, there're very little authors or books that are considered canon today. Wether that's fair or not is irrelevant. The awards seemingly failed to find those who'll live through the times. I generally don't like awards that reek of arrogance. If it's a committee that thinks it's enobling a work rather than humbly acknowledging greatness, that irks me. Awards shouldn't be gatekeepers, but guards of honour.

When the Gooker Nominees are more "I didn't like it when my favorite wrestler was booked that way" rather than "here's some wacky shit that was booked"
Yes, they can be the same thing. But not as often as people pretend they are.

Jenson Button completes one of most unlikely career turnarounds in F1 history when he goes from being out of a drive to winning the 2009 F1 championship in a sponsor less Brawn.
Logically, that year’s Sports Personality of the year goes to Manchester United bit part player Ryan Giggs.

But not as often as people pretend they are. Brass Rings getting the nod over Bella vs Bella was the big one for me. The Gooker should be harmless fun, not a commentary on the wrestling industry.

Boss Baby being nominated for best animated film.
Other than that I don't give a crap about award shows. They never speak for my interests. It's either popular opinion, or hipster stuff.

I'm not a country music fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm dating someone who is, so on those grounds I've become pretty tapped in to the country music scene over the past few years. And even I was absolutely baffled by the Country Music Association nominating persona non grata Morgan Wallen for Album of the Year at last week's CMA Awards.
A little context for those who aren't in the know: Morgan Wallen spent 2019 and 2020 as one of country music's hottest rising stars, and in January 2021, he released a double album titled "Dangerous." It was heralded critically and was a success commercially. But a month later, a video was posted online showing Wallen using the N-word while out in Nashville with his friends.
The reaction was swift and immediate. His music was dropped from radio stations and streaming services nationwide. His record label suspended its contract with him. The Academy of Country Music Awards (the Transmorphers to the CMA's Transformers) announced that Wallen would be ineligible for that year's awards show.
But a strange thing happened along the way. Wallen's music surged in popularity. Record sales increased 14 percent from the week before the racial slur video became public. The album ultimately spent 10 weeks atop the Billboard charts and became the best-selling album *period* for the first half of the year.
Even though numerous country music artists immediately expressed their disgust with Wallen, he was nominated for Album of the Year at last week's CMAs. He didn't win, but his hiatus from the music scene came and went in a matter of months. He's now receiving radio airplay; he's been welcomed on-stage to the adoration of fans as a guest alongside the likes of Luke Bryan, Eric Church, and Jason Aldean (three of the biggest stars in country music today); he's headlining a major music festival in Florida next spring; and he's setting out on a nationwide tour next summer.
I think this giant welcoming back party that the collective country music scene is throwing for Morgan Wallen - who, for what it's worth, has done zero atonement for his actions (example: he told Michael Strahan that he was using the N-word "playfully") can almost exclusively be traced back to late this summer when the CMAs announced Wallen as one of the finalists for the Album of the Year.
