Way, way, way back when I started my job, I got two pieces of advice. 1. From the guy who helped me get in the first place was, "You take every shift they offer you". Next was from my new co-workers, "No matter what you do, you never wanna wind up working at X (where I work now). Anyway, I took advice 1. It was an absolute dumpster fire of a toxic work place.
Now, perhaps you recall some of my tales from the "Funniest Things That Ever Happened in Your Workplace" thread, I didn't even scratch the surface.
I'm long since the longest tenured employee. I've seen all manner come and go and I lived through all the shit and mangers turnover and employees, you know what? People know just openly say they wanna work there because we're the best.
It wasn't just me. I have a co-worker who slightly behind me in time, but is far and away the leader of that building, but we discuss everything. Everything. It's ours now. I'm 1B, but I do know me, and I do know I helped make it a place where no one wanted to be, to where everyone wants to be.
We have what made you happy, what made you angry...what makes you proud?

I was a pretty troubled kid growing up. Serious temper problems, overweight, incredibly lazy. Let's just say prospects weren't great. Now I'm 80lbs lighter, holding down a nine to five job, own my own home and just got my first true girlfriend. I also started a YouTube channel as a side hobby, five years later I've got 50,000 subscribers and it's got me work in the MMA industry. www.youtube.com/itsnotcagefighting

I did not drink this year. Neither did I do so for the last 14 years. I never try to think about that too much, but it still hits me sometimes. :/

I won a large chili contest (over 200+ entrants) against people using ingredients like waigu steak and venison fillets. I used ground pork.
It still makes me puff out my chest in pride.

I'm proud with just how my year has gone for myself. From being unemployed, finding a job, getting laid off of said job 2 weeks later and living with parents to having a great job and my own place again.
I'm just happy to have a foundation in life again. Yes the job has down moments and I'm looking for a new place because pay here is kind of crap but compared to where I was this time last year, I will take this year as a win.

Earlier this year, I rode a bike for the first time in more than two decades. My city has a bike share program that lets people rent them at a rate of $2/30 minutes. The first time I tried it, I was tilting and swerving all over the place; I couldn’t keep the damn thing balanced. But I kept at it, and now I’m at the point where I can just hop on one and go. I ride by myself along trails, so I don’t have to worry about dealing with traffic.
This past Saturday was my first time ice skating since eighth grade. The city transformed a former armory into an ice rink, so I decided to check it out. I picked it back up much faster than bike riding.

I'm slowly working on my depression by cutting down on social media and focusing on working out, drawing, and am looking into getting guitar lessons.

In College, I did 23 hours of Shakespeare on a whim outside my College's English building for his birthday/generally accepted birthday and, on the next year, I went all 24 hours. There were a few times where I was the only person reading the play out loud. I think I have something like 50+ hours plus for my time there.

I've got a minor case of cerebral palsy and had to learn to walk again which was a bitch, but all is well.
I went to a smaller college in Brooklyn and turned it into a job writing for Forbes for a bit and I now work for a large computer manufacturer in PR, so life's good.

risks I normally wouldnt take when it comes to my music out of fear such as entering things in songwriting contests, I cast away via entering a songwriting contest that had one of my music heroes Paul Stanley as a judge, even if I dont win anything, I at least took that step and for that im proud.

Holding down a full-time job, getting a degree and snagging a gorgeous wife (13 years together now) despite my autism.
I mean, my hilarious misleading username.

I work as head of security for a hospital. I was grossly underpaid. CRAZY underpaid. I told the company a few weeks ago I was leaving to find another job. Started telling the hospital staff I was moving on so they'd be ready for the transition. MASSIVE response. The head of mental health services offered to write a letter to the company letting them know they had to keep me because me leaving would be a critical change to their operations. The director who oversees our contract at the hospital told them they needed to do anything to keep me. So I got a promotion, a big increase in salary, 2 extra weeks vacation a year, better benefits AND a potential yearly bonus. More than that though, it meant that I'm doing good. I spend all day hammering into my staff that our job is to help with patient care, that we're not meatheads who throw people around, that we need to remember peoples trauma and ALWAYS make them feel like we're here to help and it was really touching to see that people get it. My work MATTERS to people
