Ever notice how in (most) Adam Sandler movies, he's portrayed as the toughest dude there is?
Everyone who steps up to him gets their shit rocked (except Bob Barker).
What other movies do you have where the skinny white main character is also an absolute ass kicking machine when it's completely unnecessary?

I think he took the wrong lesson away from how in Happy Gilmore, he is a rageaholic who gets his ass kicked the only real time he gets into an actual fight, and Water Boy, where the whole joke is that Bobby is an unassuming, soft-spoken guy who has a berserk switch. It doesn't really work for most of his other roles, in part because he's usually playing really smug characters.

It's important to continually remind people that you don't mess with the Zohan.

I thought it was making increasingly unfunny movies as your bank account expands.

Eh, in Uncut Gems he kinda got embarrassed by the Weeknd and his crew when he got thrown out of the club, and he’s a little weasely loser through the story pretty much.

I thought it was making increasingly unfunny movies as your bank account expands. Taking the easy route and producing dreck as it's more profitable than actually trying and risking having projects fail.

I don't know, Taylor Lautner kicked his ass in grown ups 2. His wife kocked him out in Click. Rob Schnider beat him down in 50 first dates.
The only movie I can think of him being unreasonably tough was Mr Deeds

I don't think this theory holds much weight. In addition to the other examples, Veronica Vaughn kicked his ass in Billy Madison. He also got his ass kicked in the Wedding Singer. I'm sure there's plenty of other examples too.

Even in The Waterboy he got his ass kicked a bunch before his berserk kicks in.
This feels like some sort of clickbait crap

Is Jack Burton the opposite? Jack Burton knows: A real man doesn't need to flex - but to reflex.
Tom Cruise is really good at convincing people he's someone not to be messed with, despite being Tom Cruise.

Adam Sandler Syndrome is where a comedy actor who does have dramatic acting talent finds that only their lowbrow comedy roles make money, so they have to stick with that.

*raises hand* I like Adam Sandler.
...Okay, not everything he does. But Grown Ups 1 and 2 are fun "dudes just doin' stuff" movies and for all the shit Pixels got, I think it's alright. Eh.

I don't really care for his movies, but he's made a handsome living out of goofing around in nice locations with his friends, and undeniably entertains his audience doing it. Can't knock that.

Billy Madison is still one of my favorite comedies, and I can still laugh at Little Nicky and Happy Gilmore and most of Waterboy. And outside of dramatic stuff like Gems and Punch Drunk Love I feel he does good voice work in the Transylvania cartoons.
