I enjoyed that, although hearing them listed mare me realise just how long ROH has been around and how old I am lol. I think the period I stopped following the company happened around 40 seconds in, yet it feels like I was a fan for a long time
Yeah, it's wild that it's been two decades of of the company. I've been doing a full re-watch and I'm currently at mid-2018 after Best in the World, which despite being only 18 months removed from Final Battle 2016 feels like a decade.
Thanks so much for listening! Here's the lyrics:
2002, era of Honor begins
An iron man four-way match that Low-Ki wins
Code of Honor was adhered to at the start of the odyssey
Until Xavier stole it with the help of The Prophecy
Samoa Joe won it for a two year reign
Where Honor was Reborn upon a global terrain
Had hour-long classics and all-out wars
'Til Austin Aries pinned him at Final Battle ’04
But Generation Next had their theories debunked
When Aries lost it kicking off the first Summer of Punk
CM Punk would have left champ, but at his last chance
Dropped the belt to James Gibson in a four-way dance.
His title run was brief due to American Dragon
Choked him out before the ref with five-fingers waggin’.
Cattle mutilation, many different occasions
The Ultraviolet invasion, Pure Title unification
Bryan Danielson had it 462 days,
Until Homicide left him in a bloody malaise
But then he was upset by Takeshi Morishima
With worldwide defenses over global arenas.
His reign ended at the hands of Nigel McGuinness
Who’d rebound and push the whole roster right to their limits.
The Wrestler was filmed, HDNet era started
A title win for Jerry Lynn was highly regarded.
Austin Aries had a second reign that Tyler Black snuffed
Roddy Strong fulfilled his destiny, and God it was rough
Eddie Edwards won the belt, then Davey Richards right after
Kevin Steen injected SCUM and left the title scene splattered
Every match was a defense set at maximum volume
Til Jay Briscoe toppled him at Hammerstein Ballroom
He was stripped due to injury, thought to be permanent
Adam Cole crowned champ at the end of a tournament.
Elgin took it at the debut pay-per-view
Then Jay Briscoe shocked the whole world with title reign two.
Jay Lethal took his title and his unbeaten streak,
A year later Cole regained it, the results were “too sweet.”
Kyle O’Reilly finally won it after grinding his bones,
But Cole won it right back at the Tokyo Dome.
Christopher Daniels got the title after 15 years.
Cody won it and then feuded with his Bullet Club peers.
Dalton Castle beat him for it while his muscles were cramped,
Lethal’s second win gave him over 1,000 days champ
Matt Taven climbed the ladder at Madison Square,
Hard-hitting RUSH had two reigns and had him gasping for air.
Between those, PCO shocked everyone on hand.
Bandido’s win coincided with return of the fans.
Whether Fight Without Honor, Survival of the Fittest,
Ladder War and More that the Honor Club witnessed.
Creating Excellence, it’s just something you feel.
It’s more than a handshake: Honor is Real
