Personally, I think it's been a disappointing year for games, but maybe I didn't play the right ones.
1. Guilty Gear Strive 2. Tales of Arise 3. Resident Evil Village 4. Far Cry 6 5. Neo: The World Ends with You 6. Shin Megami Tensei V 7. New Pokemon Snap 8. Kena: Bridge of Spirits 9. Bravely Default 2
I think these are all the games I played this year.
Tales of Arise was a solid, but unspectacular, JRPG, and it's second on my list. I was kind of disappointed with RE. The last five on my list I haven't even completed (though, I was enjoying Far Cry 6 and dropped it for no particular reason, and SMT only just came out). Pokemon Snap was fun. Kena was okay, and BD2 was a boring grind fest.

I’ll be honest, I’ve spent so much time this year playing through my old library of games that I’ve barely paid any attention to new releases.
I’m sure once Christmas comes and I get Metroid Dread it’ll be towards the top, and Binding of Isaac Repentance doesn’t really count since it’s just an expansion, but I don’t have anything else to put so I guess it’s my #1 by default.

Only new game I’ve played was Life Is Strange: True Colors.

I guess it's probably Metroid Dread or Mario Party Superstars, main things that came out this year that I really got super into.

It’s technically Metroid Dread. The only other new games I’ve played are Miles Morales and Hyrule Warriors : Age of Calamity (and although they were both released in 2020, as I got them for Christmas last year, I didn’t play them until 2021). If I could go with choosing from all three, then it’s Age of Calamity but if it has to be a game released in 2021, it’s Dread.

Haven’t played much for new games this year, but man do I love Forza Horizon 5. Just a fun, relaxing game to play

I was going to give an answer until I realized I didn't play a single game that was released in 2021.

I wanna say Metroid Dread is the only 2021 game I played this year, if we're not counting updates to games like Fortnite.
But that's okay, because Metroid Dread was fantastic.

I was going to give an answer until I realized I didn't play a single game that was released in 2021. Same here. Been retro gaming and playing WWE 2K19 all year.

Guardians of the Galaxy Life is Strange: True Colors Forza Horizon 5
Guardians takes it by a pretty narrow margin over LiS. Didn’t really even expect to play Guardians, but positive word sold me, and I loved nearly everything about it. It was fun. The gameplay, the dialogue, the story. All good.
LiS felt extremely short. That’s really the only knock I have on that. I’ll have to go back to the OG and see if those chapters were longer.
Forza is my surprise on the list. It’s gorgeous to look at, and I can get lost for hours just driving around and collecting cars

There were quite a handful of games released this year that I enjoyed, here's my shortlist (in no particular order):
- Deltarune Chapter 2 - Forward Horizon 5 - Guardians of the Galaxy - Loop Hero - Mario Golf Super Rush - Metroid Dread - Returnal
I'm sure there are others I'm overlooking. That said, my favorite game of the year? Ehhh...yeah, not many left a lasting impression; I spent more time this year playing Satisfactory than anything else, so I guess that's what I'll give it to.

Only new games I've played this year are
Life is Strange True Colors Jurassic World Evolution and any of the first-day release PS+ titles---Hell Let Loose and First Class Trouble are the only two that jump out.
Of those, I'd say Life is Strange is the best. But I was let down that at the end of the day, few of my choices actually mattered.

Honestly this is the time of the year where I feel awful because I hardly played anything at all. Just feels like I don't have time anymore to invest in a 80+ hour games anymore. I kind of hate it to be honest.

1. Metroid Dread 2. Shin Megami Tensei V 3. Persona 5 Strikers
If expansion packs count, then FF14 Endwalker and ESO Blackwood would be on there, too.

I was going to give an answer until I realized I didn't play a single game that was released in 2021. I've played four, two of which were the Mass Effect and GTA: San Andreas remasters, so they don't really count.

Forgot Neo: The World Ends with You. Another game I was enjoying but quit for no apparent reason.

1.RE: Village- good game but still a bit of a step down from what came before. 2. Tormented Souls- A decent RE/Silent Hill like game and nothing else.
