A flawed movie and a bit too long, but still a fun film and one of Robin's best roles.
Hook (no, not that one) was released on this day in 1991

Honestly a good follow up to the original book as well, while skipping over its darker elements. Fun film.

Huh, we had a thread here recently about some of the first movies we saw in theatres and I totally forgot I went to Hook. I would’ve only been 5, so that’s probably in the first 5 or so movies I saw in theatres.
Haven’t watched it in years, how’s it hold up?

As a kid, I tended to catch wind when films got a bad rap (like Waterworld, for example) but it never happened with Hook. Far from a favorite or anything but it always maintained a “magical” feel to it.

Really? I thought he looked rather young.

The first movie I ever saw in theaters. I was 4. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this movie because of that. The intro of that movie and old Wendy reading the story at the beginning are some of the few memories I have of being that young.

I wonder if it was intentional to have AEW's Hook make his in-ring debut around the anniversary of the release of the movie Hook. Or if it's just a really good coincidence.

Magical film. One of my all time favourites.
The decision to have Dustin Hoffman play Hook as a disillusioned guy who sees his villainy as a career was just pure genius.

So...is Tiger lily and her tribe all dead in this? I got that impression.

Im surprised its got such bad reviews. Its a fun movie. Could do with being 20 or 30 minutes shorter. Hoffman as Hook was so fun

Hook was originally going to be a new musical adaptation of Peter Pan. Two of the songs ended up in Hook, "We Don't Wanna Grow Up" and "When You're Alone".
I do wonder if that original musical idea would have been as memorable as Hook ended up being.
