FWIW, last year's Winter is Coming did a .42 with 913,000 viewers.

I’d say it’s less than expected with what they had but yeah, the NBA had a lot of talked about moments Wednesday so I can see some of the interest going towards that.
Still better than last year’s in viewership but shame about the demo.

Last year's Winter is Coming also didn't have as strong head-to-head competition (IIRC, the NBA season didn't start until around Christmas time last year) or a good chunk of the country stuck in rush hour. Everything's in context.

Higher viewership, yet lower demo. Kind of a push. But at least the overall rating was higher than previous weeks and last year’s Winter is Coming. So I don’t think it’s that bad. Won’t stop random doom and gloomers from coming out of the woodwork, but I try my best to tune those people out.

And the Real Housewives of Orange County barely beat it in the demo.

Alvarez says it’s the female demo that’s hurting their overall. I don’t know exactly why they don’t do well there but you can see it in live shows too when you see shots of the crowd it looks like 90-95% guys. You get a far bigger mixture of men/women/children in WWE and even Impact crowds. AEW’s audience looks more like a (much bigger) ROH/GCW crowd, demographic wise.

Anyway, I find it kinda interesting that it was the inverse of both WWE shows so far: both Raw and NXT went down a bit in viewership but up a bit in demo. Dynamite had a nice bump in viewership but went slightly down in the demo from last week.

The female demo is always a complex discussion that can never be boiled down to one simple answer. You have lots of different types of female fans. There are those that are just pure wrestling fans. There are those who watch because they have a significant other who's a fan and they enjoy it but not to the same degree and will watch something else if it's on. There are those that parents of fans and watch with them but may not watch on their own or might watch something else. And by the numbers, AEW's viewers per home has dropped over the past year. Now that's not bad per se because they're in more homes. But that does mean that the secondary person in the home who was likely a woman is no longer watching and has been replaced by a guy in a different household. I imagine the reason is a little bit of column A, B, C, etc.

I wonder what the break down will be. Might have the problem Omega Danielson had where you put it on first and you lose viewers afterwards

Wardlow is the Demo God.
In all seriousness, pretty glad to see that viewership hold up for the hour long match. Sort of expected it to slide as the show went on but it seemed to pick up which is great.

Some people will point to that pattern and say it was a mistake to put it on first. Saying it should've gone last presumes that the audience they would've gotten in the first hour in that scenario would've been higher that they actually got in the second hour. And I don't think you can make that assumption. If you put it on last, maybe you get a strong audience waiting for it to happen. But maybe people tune in and then tune out for the second hour for the world title match. It's very possible that if you reversed it, you just reverse the overall pattern which doesn't change the final number they ended up with.
