Hello all!!!
Happy Thursday my lovies!! I hope you are all having a fabulous week!! I love you all!!
I had a question about X-Pac and Kane. I actually liked this team. Everyone acts as though X-Pac's first shot at leadership role was X-Factor, but I think X-Pac was calling the shots in this team. Unlike X-Factor, this team actually captured tag team gold not once, but twice.
I loved that they were feuding with The Undertaker and Big Show. I also loved the short man with something to prove/tall, mute, driven, angry man dynamic.
Basically, DX did X-Pac dirty and hurt him very badly, with Trips and Chyna going to the Corporate Ministry, Billy Gunn turning on him, and Road Dogg being probably the only person who knew he still existed, X-Pac turned to Kane. Kane was also done wrong by DX, specifically Chyna, who was supposed to be Kane's girl at the time, but the whole time she was by his side, she was plotting and scheming behind Kane's back. I believe she showed her true colors at Wrestlemania XV when she turned on Kane. This forced Kane and X-Pac together to fight in a common goal. The team won their first tag team gold against Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart on March 30th, 1999.
While The Undertaker despised Kane, he also wanted his brother to align with him. The Undertaker came into the ring and wreaked havoc in the ring against The Big Show and X-Pac. Kane initially went with his brother until a convenient replay of The Undertaker chokeslamming X-Pac on the canvas of the ring was shown on the Titantron. Kane turned on his brother and carried an unconscious X-Pac up the ramp. X-Pac snapped back to life and took account of his surroundings. He saw that Kane chose him over his own brother. X-Pac gave Kane a big hug. This moment actually made me tear up a bit and get a surge of emotion. At that point, they were brothers.
X-Pac taught Kane how to live and love and actually be a human. I think X-Pac taught Kane how to speak. I distinctly remember when X-Pac and Kane got on the mic and were talking shit to someone and Kane just grabbed the mic from X-Pac and told someone to "SUCK IT!!" I legit cheered when that happened. I liked this team. It was X-Pac and Kane against the world to an extent, as they had zero ties to any teams nor were they loyal to anyone but each other. They had each other's backs. They reminded me of Edge & Christian and NAO. They depended on nobody but themselves. It was cute.
X-Pac changed his attire to some red and white and I heard that Kane was slated to change his attire to some green and black, which would have been awesome!!
They feuded with The Unholy Alliance, The Acolytes/APA, The Rock n' Sock Connection.
My biggest, and I mean biggest beef with this team is that they didn't last long at all. This team should have lasted until early 2000. I could have seen them feud with the tag team champs, NAO and see X-Pac get his revenge on Billy Gunn, who did turn on him at one point. Maybe it was X-Pac, and not D-Von/Bubba Ray who hit Billy Gunn with the pipe to capture the WWF Tag Team Title.
No....the writers had to break this team apart. That really pisses me off, because I wanted X-Pac and Kane to at least become a decent tag team and become legendary. No the writers decided to turn X-Pac into a heel and low blow Kane during a bout with the Dudley Boyz. The on top of that, a few months later, the writers got the bright idea to have X-Pac steal Kane's girl, Tori, turning her into the final member, and third woman, to join DX. The writers inadvertendly destroyed Sean Waltman's career with that move, as the crowd NEVER forgot what he did, even when he was supposed to be a babyface in the Invasion angle.
I seriously hated the writers for this one. If it were me, and even if I wanted to have DX reform, I would have allowed Kane to join DX, if just for a fleeting moment.
